Exclamation New to the scene

First: Hello to all you enthusiasts out there.

I'd have to say that it all first started when 2 years ago I was given a great '84 Stang with a V6. I didn't know much about musclecars at the time, but, quickly, the idea grew on me. After a tragic, car-ending crash, I had to give up the Mustang.

For those two years, I have regretted the day that I crashed that car.

Now, for starters, I really don't know much about the internal mechanics of these wonderful machines we call "Cars". But, I am young, am very sharp and pick things up quickly, and am completely dedicated to getting myself educated in the proper ethics of Mechanics. My step-father of 10+ years is a mechanic and I've always wanted to learn for myself how things work.

I have some good things going for me. I'm young, I'm in the military, and I have the time and the money to start my own project. It is almost a new-found desire of mine to sort-of "Create" my own car.

Here is where I run into my first wall: I'm not so sure where to start!

Again, as I mentioned before, I really do not know much about this type of thing, but I want to learn!

Can you more-experienced folk give me hints/tips/pointers/comments/suggestions/etc..etc.. as to in what direction I should take my first step?

(And by the way.. if you say anything in technical terms: I will be completely lost, so please, as we say: Break it down, Barney Style!)

Re: New to the scene

What are you hoping to do with the car? Race, show, drive, or for resale?

You're right, I should have been more specific.

I was looking to race her.
