Re: check this out guys

It allows someone like me with no drawing skill to properly make a proportionate vehicle render. I really suck at this drawing thing. Cant get persepective right if my life depended on it, so this would be nifty to use

Re: check this out guys

I know that, but how?

It's like a square piece of cardboard, with three curved twigs glued on?

Re: check this out guys

its a piece of wood with three grooves routed in with a router and a stencil type thing with buttons on it that slides in the grooves to allow you to draw everything at perspective

Where's the art in drawing if you got all these machines around doing everything for you?

In my opinion it's just like Ran said. I even dont use a ruler. Well, OK, for technical drawings I guess it's helpfull

Re: check this out guys

If you (knightvisn), didnt know, Alex uses a grid which is actually a tool, made with a RULER, and zwoforti used too use a ruler before and maybe now, too get the drawing as perfect as possible, (zwoforti: correct if wrong). A lot of artists use tools.

Re: check this out guys

this is to help me develop my perspective skills. to let me know that im doing it right. all car drawers use some sort of perspective line to map the general shape of the car.

Re: check this out guys

Tools are tools...it really doesn't matter how you draw it...all that matters is what it looks like.

This thing looks like a nifty gadget, but If you don't have vision, insight, desire, and in many cases hunger it's not gonna matter.

If that tool is going to make a perfect render for you, then after using it you should be able to see that perfect render on your own.

Everything we all use can be called tools...."tools of the trade"... Pencil, pen, computer, ruler, eraser, and soul.

Just draw

Re: check this out guys

oh sorry for the double post but

Mentel,

There is no shortcut. It's "Time in Craft". Every time you put pencil to paper you get better. I use tools all the time. I have full ellipse sets, about 100,000 french curves, and every computer program known to man, but the art comes from the heart.

Regardless of technical methodology art exisits between the lines. I often find myself on the edge of a curve.

WHERE'S BONZ!!!

He knows what I'm trying to say.

WHERE's ROBODUCK?

Another technical illustrator who's artistic upbringing is planted firmly in the ink well.

WHERE'S AL?

A guy who talks the talk and draws the walk.

3 things will get you there Mentel.

Practice, Practice, and Practice.

Don't let go.
