Carey (saturntangerine) Needs help with her clutch.

Who here is willing to help her? She was quoted almost $700 for a shop to do the install for her. She lives near Pittsburg PA. So who is in that area? I think she would be willing to drive maybe 3-4 hours out. SO come on, who can help her? If I didnt live in Utah, I would gladly help. But it is a small trek for me. So lets go people, post here, and get a date setup. :coolguy: Hell, she would probably be willing to buy the ones to help her a case of beer. (they would have to buy of course. )

I've never done a clutch job. But there is a shop up here in Toronto that has done one (P11) and they charged $400CDN iirc. That comes out to about 2something US. I think it's a bit of a drive though.

hmm, 700 bucks.. that's a huge rip off. what did she do, go to the dealer? i think she should look around some more. maybe take it to a local garage or something.

I believe that included parts and labor.

Man $700 I had to pay 800 when it was allover. Parts and labor that was the best price I could get everyone else the dealer and all wanted $1200. I wish I could have had it done for $200. maybe i should move to Canada.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

My baby is in the shop until Saturday!!!

As for all the controversy over the price... the $700 usd was for parts and labor. Instead, I chose to buy an aftermarket clutch made by Sachs for $214 usd with disc, pressure plates, throw-out bearing, and pilot bushing (aka. a complete Clutch kit). The cheapest labor cost is where I sent "Sophie" to, and it's gonna cost me $312 in labor before taxes, not to mention the other services I'm getting done while its in pieces. It's another $60 for them to send out the flywheel and get it machined. And then on top of that all, I'm having them drain the tranny oil and put in synthetic. When the massive bill comes in, I'll let you all know how it went.

I'm looking forward to having fresh "everything" on this new clutch. The car's clutch was already a little bit stiff when I first got it, so this will be so nice to have everything "new". Wish me luck!!! :flash:

If it's not too late, you could get a Nissan Value Line clutch kit (also complete) from Courtesy Nissan for a bit over $100 IIRC.
