Fan Speeds only Off/High
The fan in our 2001 Grand Caravan will only run full speed. Any other setting on the switch, and the fan turns off.
My suspicion is the switch. Has anyone else had this problem? How does the switch remove from the dash? Thanks! Rick Bunch |

Re: Fan Speeds only Off/High
Bad switch is very unlikely. The Blower Motor Resistor has gone bad in one or more segments. In my 98 T&C, it was located on the firewall under the hood on the passenger side. On my 05 T&C, it is located on the firewall inside the cabin just behind the glove box. During the 6 years I had the 98 T&C, I had to replace the blower motor resistor 3 times.
Yours is probably located in one of the two places mentioned. C.B. |

Re: Re: Fan Speeds only Off/High
Headless Horseman--I really don't have any idea why I had so many resistor failures. I didn't mention that the last time I changed it, the plug to the resistor was badly burned and had to be replaced also. I've since seen other references to burned, corroded or melted plugs.

Re: Re: Re: Fan Speeds only Off/High
C.B. - I too have heard a few stories of burned/ melted wires and connectors - some of which made it necessary to cut off the bad wire/connector and replace it with a new one. Yikes.

Your advice was right on...The resistor block on this 2001 Caravan is behind the glove box. Thanks! |
