I love my LS1, but still have respect for imports
I just recently bought a 00 Vette and it stays at home. So when i went home for Thanksgiving, it was the first time i really got to drive the car, other than the one day i flew home just to buy it. A few nights before i had to leave, i finally got to race it. This guy had a Del Sol with turbo, intake, aluminum pulleys, ECU, and all that good stuff; fast car. The parking lot was full of people, and we were waiting on the Del Sol to arrive. He finally arrived, we said we were going to this highway to race so everyone pulled out and headed that way. We just looked at the line of cars going down the road. Nothing says, "Hey Pigs, look at us, were about to go race, wanna come watch?" like this line of cars did. So we pulled out and went the other way to another highway to race. A few people saw what we were doing and were lucky enough to see the race. Anyways, from a dead stop, i killed the Del SLOW. Then he said he wanted to race from a roll. So we were going about 30mph and then hit it to the floor. I hate to admit it, but from the roll he beat me. It was fun though, felt good to race my car for the first time just to see how it would do. I still feel good about killing him from the dead stop though. Afterwards, we meet back up at the park. Everyone is standing around talkin and stuff, then this guy in a yellow mustang GT pulls up and wants to race me. Everyone was laughing, but i couldn't resist. So back out to the highway we went. I raced this guy like 3 times, beating him by at least 7 car lengths each time. It was a pretty good way to end the night. I've got to put out though, I'm not one of those guys who is all about american muscle and hates the import scene, calling everything rice burners. I have a lot of respect for people who take a 4 cyl car and make it compete with V8's. Winning is always nice, but either way, i enjoy a good race.

Good post man. Admittedly, imports can be made to be very fast, especially a car as light as a Del Sol. Gotta love how a stock Vette runs a highly and expensively modified car though. It's all good, and sounds like in good fun as well. Nice kill on the GT. Welcome to AF.

Just a few months ago, I ran dead even with an H22 in a Civic hatch (with other mods)...and he didn't even use his 75 shot. I guess there are some pretty fast Hondas kicking around.

Re: I love my LS1, but still have respect for imports
Welcome to AF. Very good story. Would you happen to have pics of you Vette? That's cool that you can respect the import scene for what it is. Yeah there are rice out there. But every now and then you find a rare fast one. Pretty cool that the Del Sol took you on a roll. Good story. Late...

If you are actually who you say you are with the car you claim to have
then welcome to AF. But if your actually not . If you are however don't take offense to anything I said, as there are too many trolls, and I'm being skeptical.

thanks for the greeting
First of all, thanks for the greeting i got, glad you guys liked my story. I don't have a pic on the computer right now, but when i go home for christmas then i should be able to get one posted for you guys. Until then, it's silver with a torch red leather interior. It's the coupe model by the way. For the guy who asked how bad i got beat on the roll, it was by like 2 to 3 car lengths. Man I can't wait to go home for christmas and waste all my money on gas, lol.

Re: I love my LS1, but still have respect for imports
I played w/ an 8psi turboed Integra right after I broke in my new motor. This was back in the middle of August. The Integra had 4 guys in it. I was slowly pulling away. I know if it was just the driver in the car, he woulda pulled nicely on me. Damn nice car too. Silver, totally stock appearing, even factory rims. It was quiet too. I see this guy driving around once in awhile, he always gives a wave.
There's also quite a few fast imports out at the street legal drags. Pretty cool watching them whomp on other cars.

Re: I love my LS1, but still have respect for imports
well mr vette, if you have any extra money, look in to buying a rear mount turbo sysem by (STS)-seeing you have an ls-1, its about 3.5k and will give ya about 100-120 crank horeses.no intercooler needed, but if you have tough emmision's were you live i would recommend getting (Fast) intake and throttle body-good for 15whp and longheaders 55whp.
