anybody swaped they slushbox auto for a 5-spd in a g20 yet??

Man, I'm tired of *not* shifting gears  I don't know why I just didn't get a 5-spd in the first place (hmm, impatience I think --oops ) Hasn't anybody tried this yet? And is it too expensive to be feasible? Were's the best place to get the parts needed? I'm real interested in putting a 5-spd in my 94 p10, if anybody has some info, I'd sure appreciate it :jump:

FWIW, I looked into it, and priced everything out, and it was more money and i was willing to spend on the swap, so I traded my car in (94 auto) for a nicer, newer P10 (95 5-spd). If you know someonw parting out a G20, you may be able to do it cheap enough (maybe under $1000), but it really depends how much all the little stuff costs. like the clutch pedal assembly, brake pedal, cables, shifter rods, shifter (might as well go with a short shifter), etc... Hope this helps.

Justin, what do you mean by "traded"...as in sold/bought another car, or straight out found some one to trace cars with?...just wondering, because it really does seem like a good idea to change cars than go through all the trouble and inconvenience

I ended up trading my car in at a dealership for this new car. The new car was in a lot better shape, less miles, 5-spd, etc... If I would have kept my other G, i would have had to done a BIG tuneup. I felt it wasn't worth it, too much time and money for the swap, and I ended up getting a better car out of the deal (low miles, better shape, etc.)

Oh my gosh! What happened to that poor thing? That looks like my wreck + about 10 mph. I creamed the driver's side too. As soon as I get this film developed I will post pics, but the bumper and lights and everything had already been taken off. I sold it to a friend who's going to turbo the engine and fix it up and repaint it and everything. Unfortunately I don't think I could have swapped because it was just an SE.

Oh well, keep us posted.

I wound recommend, just get a new car with a 5spd. You are gonna pay like over a grand to get a manual in, and then if you ever decide to sell your car, the retail value will be lower, so you arent really gettin much. if you want a 5spd, get a 5spd car.
