Depending on how detailed you are cuttng the mesh, and depending on what it is made of you can do a couple of things.
If you trim the grille mesh to match exactly with the inside of the plastic all the way around you can use a two part epoxy, or JB weld, just try it out first to make sure paint will adhere to it. If it doesnt adhere, make the grille a little bit bigger and cut "slots" for the grill to poke thru the plastic and then glue there. Or...you could weld on little tabs to screw the mesh on, pretty detailed and a lot to do, but will let you take it off if it gets damaged...Just my opinion tho...good luck

i did this with mine dude
i cut out all the black shit... took off the chrome peice... cut the mesh to fit and then glued the chrome peice back on over the mesh and it all fit together fine... so the mesh is held on by the chrome peice

I always use fiberglass, when done right everything is solid. The downside is it can ge messy, and you don't want to over-spread. Otherwise overcut your mesh and use screws with some type of hook attached. Just make sure to hide all mounting points!
