Flashing headlights
I have a 1998 Mustang. Coming home from the beach, my headlights starting flashing on and off for no apparent reason. The highlight swich on the dash seemed to be warm. Was there a recall on this problem, or is it an electrical issue that has to be tracked down? The wife is going nuts, it's here car. Help!!

flashing headlights
I had the flashing headlight problem about 4 years ago on my 1994 Ford Mustang. (Makes for quite a "thrilliing" ride after dark on country roads -- and NOT in a good way!)
At that time it was the big switch on the stalk off the steering column that controls the bright lights, turn signals and wipers -- once that was replaced, the problem was no more... Until this past week -- I'm having it again! This time, I was in a really bad spot for it with still a ways to go before home, so I experimented and discovered this -- if I pulled back on that stalk switch (which flashes the bright lights) the brights would stay on (they wouldn't stay on if I pushed the stalk to engage the bright lights). I am _guessing_ that it's that switch again, and it's in the shop to get that replaced... But of course, now that it's in the shop the lights are staying on just fine. go to www.50resto.com then go to the electrical/lighting products, you will find a fix for this problem, it has something to do with the switch and the driving lights on GT's.

i have the same problem some times...on my 99. it was just after i got my subwoofer put in (2 10's with a 1200w amp...12's wouldnt fit
 ) i was goin from circuit city to go pik up my gurlfriend, and all a sudden the lights started flashing 4 no reason. it was like that for like 2 days, every so often it would blink, but then it stopped, that was a copuple months ago... but then like 2 weeks ago it did it again...but then it stopped n it hasent doen it since...i dunno those things r like posessed...lol

Funny you guys mention Headlight problems.
I'm having a strange issue here: I have HID Headlights, but when I connected them to the Low Beam connectors, they won't power on when the motor is running. So I connected them to the High Beam connector and they seem to be working fine, as long as I have the switch in High Beam Mode. Problem I have now is that occasionally when I switch the left turn signal, the headlights will turn off for 2-3 seconds, and then turn on again. It happens intemittently, and more often in colder weather. Any clues what that could be?

my 88 gt had the same probs it was the light switch for the head lites it started toasting the wires might have been a ford problem check out your contacks and wire clip harness to the switch
wierd deal

Flashing Headlights
I had my headlight switch replaced last week. (The switch on the dashboard) No more "blinky". My mechanic tells me that it is a Ford problem. He keeps a hand full on the light switches on hand and replaces them on a regular basis on other Fords, as well as, Mustangs. Thanks again for everyone's input to resolve this.

I'm back! The headlights starting blinking again. I have noticed that if you hit your dimmer switch to high beam, they will stop. Wait 5 minutes, if the person in front of you doesn't mind, and go back to regular lighting. Sometimes it ocurs again.

The flashing can also be caused by a over-charging of the battery or the failure of the alternator. You might want take a look at that.
I had the same problem you all described, and it was the battery being over charged. matter of fact, the battery started to leak from the top because of it
