Peugeot 905 Ev1 BIS from Heller

Hi Guys,

this Heller kit has been lying around for a while and finally, I dared to start building it.
Well, what can I say, it's not Tamiya quality, that's for sure, but it's not so bad after all. It requires some work but then will turn into a nice model. Detail is not really graet but at least it's not curbside and has an engine. Here's the box:

and here are some detail pics of the real car:

After priming and several coats of Tamiya color spray in white, this is what the body looks like:

I know, quality of the pics is not the best - more pics too follow!

Then, I started the engine. Instructions and also pics of the real car show the entire engine and gearbox in black. Since the details of the model engine are not the best, I decided to change that a little bit. I know, it's not original anymore, but then, the engine would have looked only like a black chunk of plastic. I also wired the V10 engine. Here are some pictures:

Next is the interieur. Here's the first shot. I used photo-etched seatbelts from Eduard:

What do you guys think so far? more progress pics to follow soon.

By the way, I plan to build the car mostly "Out of the Box", so, it will be the prototype version and not the LeMans version (no headlamps, big front spoiler). Can I nevertheless participate with this one in the LeMans contest as well?

All the best, Marc

Hey, I wish you good luck with that engine...

I build the kit a while ago, it took me ages and I finally decided to close the engine bay and don't show the engine. I tried to detail it a bit, but the Heller engine is a total piece of crap!!!
Be aware the kit doesn't even have rear suspension detail (I scratch build something)...
Also the lower front part is about 1mm to wide.

If you're interested, take a look at my homepage under Gallery.

Hi Steffen,

thanks for your comments!
I know about the missing rear springs in the model. I also scratchbuilt something. It's already done, I just need to take some pictures and post them - maybe tomorrow.
Thanks also for mentioning the problems with the front lower part. Mine seems to be alright but I will double check.

All the best, Marc

Nice start there, this is one of my favourite Group C cars (i prefer the 905B though.) It's a shame the quality isn't up to tamiya standard.

Hey, nice work with this very frustrating kit. I have one on the shelf but the decals are so bad it's not really worth building. I wish you the best of luck with it. Judging by your progress so far I think you are going to do great.

Is this the same as the Airfix kit? I have that one in stock, have looked at it a few times, but after various posts on here have shied away from it!

Yes, it's the same, apart from some decal differences.

Marc,

Love all those little details you've added! Are you going to use the decals that come with the kit?

Hi Ales,

so far, I used the kits decals - they are definetely not the best! Quite pale colors!

Here are two pics showing the body with the first decals attached:

I do like it. I'm following this thread as I might go and buy the kit myself.

Looking good. Those shocks look sweet as does your wiring job.
