two new additions to my collection

got these off ebay over the last few weeks. top one is fujimi's group a touring car series newman dr30 nissan skyline rs-c, bottom one is fujimi's inch up disk series mz11 toyota soarer 2800GT. both were still shrinkwrapped when i got them. i removed the shrinkwrap to look at the contents but the parts bags themselves are staying sealed. these ones aren't going to be built since they're such old kits. if i were to mess them up i would have a hard time finding replacements!!

Sorry but I dont understand this mentality personally, why buy if youve no intention on making them , you most certanly stopped a winning bid by a 'builder' . This isnt a personal attack on you BTW I just get frustrated by people with collections of models they dont intend to build. Build them both, if you 'cock them up them strip them and start again.

I collect models and i build models.... the point is that they are works of art. i have alot of models i will never build cause i will die to soon but my retirement will be fun! i dont have time to build models all day so i collect now and build later. also my FAVORITE car is a Ferrari Dino 246GTS and i found the old Fujimi kit. i f'd it bad and now i wish i wouldnt have touched it... yet. point is if your willing to spend $30++ for a model i think that model is in the right hands. though El Kram, I dont find these kits to hard to find so just take your time and build them.

I'm with you Verm. My Mustang that I am currently building http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=313618 was a near mint condition, unbuilt 38 year old kit!!! I'm not only building it, I cut it up too!!!

While I have a collection of about 400 kits , I have intentions of building them all regardless of how old or rare they may be.

Go for it...open those bags and start building. Like Verm said, if you 'cock em up, strip them and start again. Marc

I disagree. To me it is up to the individual. People collect all sorts of things. Some of these appreciate in value and can, if the owner so desires, be sold for a profit. Others choose to hold on to them for sentimental reasons. I too have a large collection of model kits (around 200). Some I intend to build, if I live long enough, and others I will never build because they are worth more to me as an untouched kit. Horses for courses I guess.

i may decide to build them in the future. for now i'm just hesitant as i had a bad experience with building a kit, something going wrong with it and not being able to get the same kit again because it was discontinued. i guess i was just in a hurry then. now that i'm back to building models again i'll definitely be taking my time as not to mess anything up. the kits themselves aren't hard to find, they're still in circulation as other kits, i.e. the touge series soarer 2800GT, or the tomica dr30 skyline rs-c - the only difference with those kits and these being the wheels packaged with the kits. those are what's hard to find. actually i'm very tempted to build the soarer

Re: two new additions to my collection

Nice score. I almost bought the soarer a month or so ago, and didnt coz I didn't think it was rare or anything. It was pretty cheap to. $20 AUS. Im kicking myself now.
Build the soarer El Kram. You know you want to.
Peace, Troy
