Progress: Project Boss Hoss 1966 Mustang fastback

The real Boss Hoss is the latest Year One creation. Here's a pic from Popular Hotrodding Magazine's website:

I'm basing mine on a vintage 1966 AMT annual. This body is the one I have had for 2 years. I purchased a BU from evilbay that I have dismantled and stripped. This body has a bent A-pillar that should be an easy straighten. The emblems have already been shaved on this vintage styrene, so I can save the other one for future use.

The rims are Pegasus Helas. The fronts are 19's that have been narrowed to fit Revell tuner rubber bands. The rears are the new 23" Peggies. They fit just fine with a little fender massaging. Still need to get a resin teardrop hood and some more CF decals.

I think Tamiya Brilliant Blue will be a close match to the 2004 Mach I Azure Blue. The body will get the rear spoiler from the AMT 1967 Shelby GT-350. The engine may come from the AMT Phantom Vicky or I might have to get a Revell Ford Lightning for the supercharged motor to match the 1:1 version.

Emjoy!!! Marc

Re: Progress: Project Boss Hoss 1966 Mustang fastback

I love all of the pro-touring muscle going on here. Are all of the kits you build, old (vintage) kits? Where do you find them or have you had them? I try to buy as many kits as I can as they come out because I know one day they will be discontinued and I will want to build one. As a general rule I usually buy at least one extra kit, so every model I have built I have another kit in the box w/ plastic.

I was just looking at the PHR website the other day and thinking that would be a good car to build! Looking forward to it!

I'm drooling!
So the rear wheels/tires clear the leaf springs too?
Oh man you chose a really tight car/project to take on!

Well....the rear wheels and tires do clear the leaf springs. Since I'm using the vintage "metal axle" all detail molded in chassis you can take some liberties . However, no leaf spring detail was lost in the massaging of the chassis plate. I'll take some pics of the underside and post later for proof!!!
