Question '95Max-question on ECU/VB mod

Hi, i drive a 1995 Maxima, and close to getting an ECU upgrade...a friend of mine was telling me that if i were to get an ECU upgrade that i would also need to get dyno tuning on it, otherwise the ECU would be useless...and my question is, is he right, do i need dyno tunning in order for the ECU upgrade to be useful?

As for my second question, The valve body modification, where can i get this performed, I am located in Santa Barbara and would like to have this job performed, can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks,

Anthony

You will not need to dyno your car to get an aftermarket ECU. Check out the group deal section of www.maximadriver.com they are having a group buy on Gforce ECU's right now. You can also check out www.cattmanperformance.com they have JWT ECU's for sale. These are the only two brands I would recommend.

As for your VB, there are only two ways to get it done. Don in Texas (on www.maxima.org) sells a VB mod for $450, you have to send your VB to him, or put down a deposit to have him send one to you, check out www.mobiletek.net for more info. You have to do the work yourself.

You can also look at www.levelten.com they sell a VB mod for $650, again you must do the work yourself.

Last but not least, there is www.txchange.com that sells a kit you can modify your VB yourself. It's only about $40, but it takes a LOT of work, and is only for the mechanically inclined to say the least.

As far as having a shop do any of this work for you, good luck. Most shops will not want to deal with any of this, it's too risky for them business wise. If you don't mind driving, you might want to hit up one of the Norcal or Socal guys, lots of them have done this mod before.
Good luck
