I was driving down the road last night, and some questions came to mind. First, let's say you're driving at around 80, then downshift to 4th and accelerate moderate-hard for about 3 seconds, will it hurt the engine? Second, in the state of Virginia, is it illegal to not drive with a front license plate? Because I took mine off and I put it on my front dashboard but there was a little bit of a rattling sound so I took it down, just wondering because I don't want to get pulled over. Third, does anyone know how much the 2002 gauge cluster will cost also the chrome 2002 door sills and the 2001 clear side blinkers? I'm going to go get my oil changed today so if no one knows and they want to know, I'll ask. Thanks!!!!!

Downshifting from 5th to 4th at 80mph will not hurt anything, but you will be pretty close to redline. Downshifting from 5th and missing 4th and hitting 2nd will probably throw off some rocker arms. Not good.

John-
I think we guessed the cluster to be around 300 bucks, I haven't heard about the chrome sills, and I don't know about the sidemarkers. If you could find out part numbers for the cluster (and maybe just the gauge faces) and the chrome sill stuff, you'd make some of us happy. |

dre: I'll try to ask about the part number for the cluster and the sills. I'll try to have it posted tomorrow morning...

Okay... i was really confused yesterday when i asked about the 2002 gauge cluster... i went in to get my oil changed and i asked the parts guy about how much the 2002 gauge cluster was going to cost, and he looked at me and said "gauge cluster???" then he told me "you mean the white faces?" and i was like umm yea... then he told me that they don't sell them in clusters, they sell them in parts.... is that true or was he just trying to get rid of me??? i think he was trying to get rid of me cuz it was around 4:30-ish and when the lady asked for a parts person, i heard the guy say, tell him we're not here... bastards...
anyways, i'm going to try to call them, but for those that have already asked about them, what did you ask for? maybe i said something wrong... also, anyone have the part number? or numbers if it's multiple parts, thanks!!

One of the problems with getting those fancy parts for newer models is that a lot of times it takes about 8-9 months before dealers get part numbers for anything. Just ask some of the guys that are trying or tried to get white side markers for their 99's. It's like fricking pulling teeth sometimes. I'll bet Scottsdale Infiniti would be more on the ball though, try them. http://www.g20.net/maint_vendors.html

I know this has nothing to do with the main thread, but since we are all talking about mph, i thought I might as well ask.
Does anyone know the topspeed of an auto 2000 g? Thanks
