Another GT40, Completed /\ Lots of pics

This is a Fujimi 1:24 scale GT40. Maybe it should be in Sports section, but i left off the stripes that go down the middle and the numbers so i'm calling it street. They didn't have any gloss black in the shop so i got metallic black instead, which i think looks better. I did cut off the rear end, which i was going to make a hinge for but then realised there was no point because there was not as much engine detail as i thought there would be. Should have checked before hand really. It did give me some good practice though.

That looks great!
It looks very tough in black.

Re: Another GT40, Completed /\ Lots of pics

I am yet to see a bad build up of this machine. I like the color matched wheels and the stance, but the paint could be a bit shinier. Appears a little dull on the doors, or may be its just the light.

Re: Another GT40, Completed /\ Lots of pics

The pictures were taken at dusk, which is now at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon here in Sweden. But yes you are right. I am not very good at getting a good clear coat on. I've tried and i've tried but cannot get a good shine. Do i need to use more lacquer or get my hands on some compound or both?

Re: Another GT40, Completed /\ Lots of pics

probably both. my recipe (and I am by far not as good as most people here) is primer/sand, mist coat, mist coat, color coat, color coat/send, wet coat, wet coat, clear, clear, clear, polish with prgoressive grits, model treatment wax.

hope that works for you.

Thanks. That certainly sounds more thorough than my method.

Yeah one of my all time favourites too. I wish Tamiya or Hasegawa would make one. Fujimi don't exactly make the best quality models.

Great work on the GT40 Tikiman. That first head on pic in particular looks like a period shot of the real thing.

A shame you didn't do it as the full blown racer it is, but then again, Fujimi didn't include all the decals you need to show it in it's (24) hour(s) of glory anyway.

Yeah it was getting quite late in the evening and the pictures came out a bit grainy. So i see what you mean. I did get all the decals but didn't fancy doing it with the numbers and they were attached to the top stripes. I am planning on doing another, so maybe i can do a full racer next time. It is too good a car to only have one.

Thanks for looking.

Any engine shots ? Hmm. Well if Fujimi had been kind enough to include an engine there would be. There is just the bits you see sticking out of the back that are included unfortunately. Sorry.
