Re: S13.5 Sileighty attempt
Thought it might be something like that.Young drifter X,Spoolin was doing those conversions.Do a search for his progress thread. The way he was going about it was probably the best.

yeah im not sure what you mean. im a silvia/240sx fanatic and dont know what you mean. i own every silvia/240 kit made so do you mean a strawberry face? or do you some how me an American 240SX? I ask because i own an S13 240SX coupe and cant find a kit for it (there isnt one made) so you would have to retro fit a Silvia coupe rear end with 180SX front end and the Fujimis i have require heavy mod work. a strawberry would be easier and the Fujimis are very close if you cut the front ends off at the front door seam through the A-pillar. but you need to heat and spread the S15 front fenders a bit to make them match.

Re: S13.5 Sileighty attempt
I have built this kit bash, man it was easy....
this is the U.S. version of the 240SX the sileighty is a 180sx(hatch back) with a silvia front end. the onevia is a silvia with a 180SX front end (AKA the us 240SX coupe) the s13.5 is the s15 front end on a s13 chassis, although it looks stupid if you use the coupe for this. in real life it is a simple bolt on mod to do the sileighty or onevia swap, and it is very easy to swap the s15 to the s13 or 14 bodies. first off assemble the suspension and temporarily attach it to the chassis to establish a wheel base. next cut the rear ends of the chassis (there is a factory mold line you should use as a cutting point, you will see what I mean if you compare the 2 chassis. it is where the gas tank will be glued.)prepare a "scab" to the trunk side of the chassis as you will need to adjust for saw kerf when you re-assemble the rear ends of the chassis. next, cut the front ends of the bodies at the door lines, you will need to shorten one and lengthen the other, I can't remember which, that is what the pre assembled wheel base is for. now that the front end is off, it is time to assemble the rear inds of the chassis. first LIGHTLY glue the rear end of the chassis to the body it came with. then glue the chassis of the other car to the body of the other kit, taking note of rear wheel alignment as this is a critical point of making it have the right appearance. glue the "scab" in place, attaching the front and rear of the two chassis. it helps to temporarily glue the chassis to the body on the "pinch welds" (rocker panels) now you are ready for front end fitment. test fit and trim/add material as needed and use as much plastic and as little body filler as possible. I will have a pic of the sileighty shortly. I am part of a nissan car club here in Oklahoma City. you should visit the site at www.nismokc.com

actually the 180SX was the factory name AND Manufactoring name of the Canadian fastback(hatchback as you say) and American fastback. No Silvia front end about it. this was from 88-91.A Sil-Eighty is the Japanese fast-back with Silvia front end. 240sx.org is a good spot for this info. anyhow i dont know what a S13.5 is according to young drifter that
posted the original thread. |

Re: S13.5 Sileighty attempt
Quote:
JDM S13s were known only as Silvia and 180SX. 180sx was derrived from their engine displacement (1800cc) from the CA18DE(T) and the name stuck even after the SR20DE(T) replaced it. later to drop the 180SX badge in favor of the silvia badge for the S14, and still producing the s13 as the 180SX type-X the S13 was introduced to the european market as the 200SX as it came with the 2000cc SR20DE(T) as far as the Canadian S13 I am not sure what engines they came with, so I am just guessing they were introduced with the CA18DE as they are called 180sx but the US versions came with the KA24e single cam truck motor as the only option and thus naming it as the 240SX in 91 they made the switch to the twin cam KA24DE. the silvia was (and I may be wrong) only a Japan/Austrailia model, as I have never seen them anywhere else. all of this was interpreted by me through the last 4 years of devoted intrest for my own 240SX coupe.

Yes i understand all that and didnt contradict this info in my post. i didnt mean to say japanese fastback wasnt a silvia i was just try to make clear that not all 180SX have JDM front ends. sorry for the miswording. the Canadian car introduced with the CA18DE but switch to the KA24DE in 1991 but kept the 180 SX badge till 1994 when the HICAS came out. U.S. 180SX also introduced with the CA18de in 1989 but in 1991 switched to the KA24de and changed name to 240SX. just so yeah know. I bought my first 240SX in 1991 and i assure im the 240SX bible but i was probly drunk and worded it wrong. anyhow peace!! and glad to meet another Silvia freak! wish they would have brought 240SX back and not 350z!!!!!!

Re: S13.5 Sileighty attempt
the only thing I have to disagree with you about, is that the CA18 was used in the US 240sx. the 89-90 240sx had the ka24e which was a single cam version of the twin cam ka24de.
I don't know if the CA motor was ever used in any US cars/trucks, possibly the s11 or s12 (200sx, gazzelle) which was a predicessor of the 240sx/silvia. hey you should check out our site, we have been growing and have regulars from around the world visiting.
