hard rubber vs polyurethane bushings

i was reading some old posts and saw one on Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings, which i planned on getting for my ride whenever i drop the money for Prokit and koni yellows. somebody said that with harsh weather polyurethane would "act like cement" and itd be better to go with hard rubber. what? and if thats right, who sells hard rubber kits similar to energy suspensions? think Chicago weather.

I live about 60 miles from Chicago, I got a set of polygraphite bushings from PST I'm sure they make a kit for yours, I love them, they are alot better than the origanal rubber ones. they do make squeky noises when it's cold by a little silicon spray and your back in bisness, also you mentioned a prokit ( I assume you mean Eibach's kit, right) if so they make awesome springs my cars handling is so tight after putting them on it's incredible. It won't even lean going around corners and I've never made it break loose (and I've tried pretty hard) they are awesome you'll like them.

PU bushing overratted. I have several friends that have gone back to OE rubber. after extended conversations with most of them I am now no longer entertaining the full bushing replacement route, however I will be replacing my shifter bushings w/ an Energy set. I know some people like them, I don't think its worthwhile unless you're hitting the track every weekend,

i just looked at it as a fairly cheap mod ($50-$100) that could possibly improve my handling - now i've got one comment in either direction. anybody else had experience? whats the difference in ride between stock, hard rubber, and polyurethane? and ive never hit the track in my life, its a daily driver that i race for fun. take turns kinda sharp sometimes...

ive heard of bolts just snapping because there is nowhere for the energy to be absorbed. im sure whoever did it was beating the shit out of thier car but still. oh and one thing i will say is dont ever get the motor mount inserts. there are much better ways to get a massage then that!! i know from personal experience on that one.

oh and the difference in ride is its stiffer.

i've road raced a crx with urethane bushings installed on all points. handled really well, very stable and accurate... no slop.

i think they're worth the money... but beware, they will transmit every bump, jolt, jitter, and rumble into the passenger compartment. the ride will be stiffer and louder.

as for bolts snapping off, i have never seen that problem. maybe whoever installed them used the wrong set or non-hardened bolts.

now that I think about it the ride was probably a little rougher after I installed them but I installed them at the same time as the Eibach springs so I didn't know if it was the springs or the bushings or a combo of both that made for the rougher ride. like drift pointed out the handling is tightened up a lot. You will deffinetly be able to tell the difference, I have never raced mine either but I enjoy driving a lot more now even if the ride is a little rougher.
