1997 Civic

Thinking of purchasing a 97 civic. But, I don't know what model it is. It has Si tails and gauges, and a sunroof. But I didn't think they made Si's until '99. Could be wrong though. There's no emblems ANYWHERE on the car so i'm not sure. Any ideas?

Yeah there weren't Si's between '96-'98. It's possible they just put the tail lights on there. Most likely it's an EX. An easy way to find out what model it is by the engine code. It should be a D16Y8 SOHC.

Yeah they didn't make them until 99-00. Check the engine maybe?

If it looks similar to this, he swapped out for a better engine.

If it looks similar to this, it has the stock engine.

Okay, that's what I though. It's an EX then (due to the sunroof). I've got the stock engine.

In Canada, their Si was our EX, and their SiR is equal to our Si. If you are in Canada by chance, then it's a Canadain spec Si (US spec EX). If the car originated in Canada but in now in the states this could be the case also. If the car originated in the US, he just swapped the gauges and tails, etc.

That's nice to know. It woul dbe helpful he he put that in his profile versus leaving it blank. I threw that out there just in case, since his profile didn't list his location.
