i dont know quite what model or year teg you have, but if its a 94-00 any model, i would go for the drag gen III turbo. its about $3500 and gives anywhere from 100-130 HP. they are street legal from what i understand. if you dont want to go the turbo route, get hte basic intake, exhaust and headers, some new tires with light rims, cam gears. just let the forum know what kind of teg you have, and it'll be alot easier for us.

Yeah, and tell us where you live for currency's sake.

$5000 american will buy you a lot.

$5000 canadian will buy you chips and a pack of smokes.

5 large to spend on upgrades! Lucky you! Are you gonna build it up or spend it all at once?

First figure out if you're goin all motor or forced induction(Turbo/Supercharger)

-If building up slow I would go the I/H/E route. Thats Intake/Header/Exhaust. Its a good start unless you're goin turbo. Then you wouldn't want the headers (you'd only end up buying a new exhaust manifold required when you switch to turbo).

-If dropping that wad all at once. I'd go with a turbo kit or supercharger, Exhaust and
Intake. Checkout Greddy and Jackson Racing to name a few.

IMHO if its a daily driver I lean towards Jackson Racing Superchargers. yeah I know all the turbo guys will blast me now but hey, S/C raise your HP without killing your low end torque. Which is what I like in a daily driver. Yeah yeah I know turbos can get a higher peak HP, but I have a non-vtec LS, I like torque and don't like to cool down turbos after a hard run. If your goin full race however, I'd go turbo. DON'T forget about installation costs.

-What ever you do... find a good shop to install your stuff. Even if your gonna do it yourself. The guys who do this for a living can offer some good advice.

Good luck and have fun

As stated before, it really depends on if you are going to build your car for show or speed. If you are going for speed, the general rule is to build away from your engine, towards it. By this, I mean exhaust, intake, throttle body, manifold, headers. Then you would have the capacity to withstand decent boost levels or even go nitrous oxide. Performance cams and cam gears are very helpful, and if all this were to be performed on your car you might need a custom ECU, but it's not completley necessary. After you start getting alot of power from your car, it's necessary to upgrade your clutch and flywheel to withstand such a power load on your transmission. And lastly, your fuel delivery system might need upgrading( injectors, pump, rail, etc.)
