Re: how much to get 350 hp?

it all depends on how you go about it...some people FI, and others N/A. im all about n/a cars. just save up enough money about 2 grand for a really nice h/c/i (head/cam/intake) set up. check out ebay often for a nice set of heads. sometimes you can find guys that just need fast cash and will do anything to get rid of a set of nice heads for cheap. if i were you ide go w/ either a set of trick flows, brodix, or afr (they all flow like a mo fo). heads alone, take or give a few hundred, will be around a grand. if it were me ide go w/ a custom cam, about $300. and intakes are usually all about the same price. somewhere around 400 dollars.
just find a combo that is in your price range and post it...

A good H/I/C will get you there the problem you have is any good H/I/C combo calls for new pistons in your 86 due to flat-top pistons used in 86 so there is more money and also a good amount more if you need someone else to do the labor.

Cause your have an 86 with flat-tops I might go the S/C route. You can get 350hp w/o having to change slugs.

would just pulling the stock pistons from a junk yard from a newer year be suitable?

Really now is that true about the pistons? I've never heard that about the 86.
I do know though the heads were really crappy that year. What were they called, swirl head? Anyway they're for emissions and not horsepower so I'd get those off a.s.a.p.
Oh, DaIceMan89, that's a nice car you have there. I know b/c...well I have one too. Anyway good luck with it.

The heads suck too but your not gonna be throwing any decent heads with a nice big intake valve on em or a nice lift cam with those crappy flat-top pistons.
