Re: 4G63 N/A swap info needed
for how many times this has been asked i'm retarded to say again:
1) why would you want to put a non-turbo engine into the 95 if the turbo engine is the same setup and would take the same amount of work (LOTS OF WORK) 2)it would cost over $5000 to swap the engine because the 420a (2g eclipse non-turbo engine) sits on the left looking into the engine and the tranny sits on the right. the 4g63 is completely opposite. the engine sits on the right and the tranny sits on the left, THEREFORE, to do the swap you would either have to: 1) custom make your own brackets to make the engine and tranny fit right, new harnesses, computer, and all other accessories (god knows how much you'd need) OR 2 change old mounts to fit other engine and tranny and run the engine backwards (intake facing front, exhaust towards firewall) and still have all the other stuff to change like wires, computer, lines and etc so all in all it's cheaper to buy a turbo car in which the engine will fit into than to take and swap non-turbo for non-turbo.......next time read up on the stickies before you ask a question |

Re: 4G63 N/A swap info needed
you know....you never hear any of the 240 guys bitching about switchin motors, honestly why are most of us dsm's such whiners...like no one has the time or determination to what try something diffrent or work on it themselves? oh god cause it costs to much to do this

Re: 4G63 N/A swap info needed
what 240 guys are you talking about? the reason no one does it is because of all the potential problems that come along with it. if you're going to swap a turbo motor, you might as well go all out and put in a v8 in it or something. its just alot easier to get an already turbocharged car, and plus, most people don't have the time, money, or resources to do the swap themselves and it would cost at least $10000 to have a shop do it.

for one i asked for help and info sorry i didnt search but most people who had already asked that question and only got a bunch of replys saying why??? why??? why???
my answer is this. Maybe not every kid wants to put a turbo into his eclipse. Maybe I'm building the car for all engine and go natural. Secondly it's gonna cost me maybe 100 bucks to rip off the engine and tranny mounts off a 2g and remount them in my car. The engine and wiring harness and everything else will come off a parts car for less than 2,000. I have access to wiring diagrams to rewire the system. So for those of you who are going to not help me out and dont have anything helpful or good to say please stop wasting space on my thread. |

You dont have to listen to everyones reply here, ppl are just offering their opinion and expertise from their experience. If you like to swap a 4g63 into your N/A, then go right ahead. Its your money nobody is stopping you; i just think that other ppl are trying to suggest alternative method. Anyways good luck on the swap, and remeber to search and check the faqs before posting, it really saves alot of time.

for those who would like to help me out here are some more specifics that i'm looking for. With the 4g63 nt engine i know i can easily mount new motor mounts into my car with a Tram Gauge and an underhood dimension sheet. I already have the 4g63 nt transmission but i do not know weather or not i can use drive axles out of the GST on the transmission to get it to mount up to my wheels. secondly i would like to know of any other little things that i will need to get or to modify. i know i need an ECU, wiring harness, undercarriage support, engine and transmission mounts. i dont know weather or not if my old tach will work with the different ecu or not along with all my other gauges or if i should just mount a 1g gauge cluster into the dash and wire that up. Now i know alot of you are going to say it costs too much to do but here is my list right now
transmission 200 4g63 nt engine, ECU, Wiring harness, undercarriage support, and mounts $1200 No i dont need to have a shop do the install i am pretty capable myself to weld in new mounts (in the right locations) and get the motor in. Just to let other people know i searched 2 hours today on the 4g63 non turbo swap and found absoultly nothing of help to me. Just more people asking why the hell the person would want to do something like that. For people who do want to do this it isn't as hard and tough as they say to do this. for one the car was built around a 4g63 motor and the only difference is the engine wiring, mounts, and ECU naturally. If you tried to do this in a GST you would basically run into all the same problems with the exception of the under carriage and motor mounts. ECU and the Wiring harness would all have to be redone anyways and i know the cost of a high milage GS is a hell of a lot cheaper then going for a GST. For those who said it was cheaper to go this was all i would be doing is actually lose money. motor mounts and the undercarriage support is cheap as hell from a junk yard. so where is the savings in doing a swap from a GST. and i must remind you "I dont want to put a turbo'd 4g63 into my car my purpose is all engine no forced induction" this is a different type of project. so please dont send tell me or send me links to pages that have done Turbo Swaps. |
