Paint Stripping and Putty

One of my models (AE86 Levin) need to hit the paint stripping bucket, but this is the first one that has body work done to it. Does brake fluid or CSC ruin Tamiya epoxy or Bondo spot and glazing putty?

Re: Paint Stripping and Putty

CSC will dissolve Spot putty. I'm pretty sure it doesn't effect Epoxy putty.

how long did you leave it in?? mine was in for only 15 mins, and the paint was completely stripped, and the putty was perfect still.

Not to bring up an old thread, but does any know of something that will strip epoxy putty (specifically Tamiya quick-type)? I've got some putty bombs I'd like to recover and don't feel like sanding for hours and hours.

CSC doesn't work, just tried it. Does brake fluid work? 91% Iso? Anything?

Re: Paint Stripping and Putty

heya... im about to drop my ae86 in a paint stripper as well. im thinking of the brakefluids.... what sort of brakefluids do u use??? any brand or some particular brand that will work best?? i can get hold of BP's, castrols, shells, lucas and some other that i cannot remember. do they do the work ok???

also... they come with various DOT ratings. which do you people use???

im a bit scared of using brakefluids... i some of the kit couple years back when i dipped it in the fluid. but i think i dip it a bit too long. so yea... some advice are very appreciated. thanx a lot
