Caught a thief tonight.

Today, my neighbor and I saw two teenagers scoping out the house across the street, and watched them steal a new bicycle from the garage. The owner of the bike is a poor lady that saved for her kid's bike. This evening we found where the kid lived, took the bike's owner to the house, and the thief's mother acted like it was no big deal, just told her son to give the bike back. No-one called the cops and nothing will be done to the punks. What is wrong with people these days? I want revenge on the little pricks and the bike isn't even mine. At least I know where they live now, and I want to take some sort of action. Any ideas? Or should I just chalk it up to modern times?

We didn't know who they were at first. It was broad daylight and they acted like they belonged there. All the people were home at the time too. My neighbor just thought he'd better ask.

wow those thieves really wanted to get caught or something. Stole the bike in broad daylight while the owner's bike was at home? Are you sure they weren't just borrowing it?

They were so bold and that bothers me. The little pricks are too brave, I want to do something that will keep them away from this area. I'm new to this area so I have to be discreet. Maybe print up some flyers with their picture, labeled "THIEF" and leave them around the neighborhood. Might make them famous among their peers though , but just until I get some better ideas.

Printing flyers is just crazy. you should just talk the kid down when you see him, but then again this might make you a target

Forget about it man, just watch out for them, next time call the cops. You said their mom didn't make it a big deal huh? I bet she was a young mom, possibly had her kids when she was a teenager herself and never had to chance to grow up. I bet her kids are the type of kids that would tell her to "SHUT UP" lack of respect these day I tell you.

Call the cops. They still committed a crime, even though they gave the bike back. And their "mother" isn't doing her job.

If they're just teens, they're not as likely to have a gun, so especially if it was just the two of you, I would have beat the hell out of them, and then called the cops. (Just make sure that you don't leave any marks of the beating)

I would have grabbed them by the scruff of their necks, chained them to a wall in my basement, doused them with water. Then i would have gotten the battery jump pack from work and attached it to their nipples until they promised they would never do it again!!!!!!!!!!

I hate little bastards like that who have no respect for anyone else or anyones elses property!!!

That's the impression I get too, I'm gonna watch out for them. Future convicts, and then the mom will blame it on "this neighborhood" Sometimes I hate living on this island, a lot of Hawaiians have the attitude that it's ok to steal, as long as it's from white people. They pass it on from generation to generation. That's why so many of them are in prison.
