im thinking about a coast high performance 347 pro street short block set up for a blower. it comes with 8.5:1 compression pistons. i want to throw a set of afr 185's, gt40 lower intake and a kenne bell superchager on it. how much horse power can tha block handel? it has all forged internals. i want to no so i can decide on a boost level for the engine. thanks abunch

Exact same kit I have. Well except I ordered the kit alone and put it in a Sportsman block. They use just a regular 5.0L on those unless you order them differently. So 500 hp is reasonable guess. I'd look into a main girdle system as a back up as well. If you order a good amount of stuff through them, they'll knock off a couple hundred if ya ask what kind of a deal you can get for it all. Good luck!

P.S. Check your compression ratio math before hand! That same kit on mine with TW heads actually makes about 8.9:1.

if it were me ide go w/ a larger intake. w/ as many horses as your plannen on putten out, an rpmII, track heat, or r-series intake would flow better numbers...thas just my opinion though

He can't do that if he is planning on a Kenne Bell. The Kenne Bell S/C is a twin screw not a centrifugal and is designed to sit on top of a stock lower 5.0/Cobra/GT-40 intake.

They all(D.S.S., CHP, etc..,) use stock blocks as the base, they will also by request use FMS/Dart blocks etc.., if you ask them. But man that is some serious cash your looking into.

The worst thing FMS ever did is stop making the A4 block it was the best combination of affordablity and strength. Instead of an R302 or Dart block I might look to find a good used A4 unlesss your really want a 1,000+HP monster SB.

Re: 347

What is the b50 block? I've also heard of a mexican block, is it the same block? From what I heard you can put 700 though those.

B50 is a FRPP Sportsman block. I've seen both side-by-side, and they both look VERY similar. The mexican block has withstood 700+ horsepower, so I don't see why the B50 shouldn't be able to take atleast as much as the mexican block.

Re: 347

How much does the b50 cost? Sounds like that block would suit me perfectly. I want 400-600 hp.
