Question 4th Gen. 2nd owner needs your advice!

I am a new member.
I bought a 96 Maxima 60K miles, and want to change the suspension a bit, I have New KYB GR2 Struts, Drop Zone springs, and some 16" wheels off a 2001 model.
I would appreciate your advice / opinions regarding using the new parts I have. The car rides nice and smooth now, but I want a sporty ride that dosent bounce down the road.
Will this combonation work? Any recomendations on tire size is also appreciated.
Sincerely.

Lowell

your set up is fine. i dont know anything about dropzone springs. but the GR2s are just a replacement shock, they should last fairly better than stock.

as for tires. try something with a lower profile for cornering.. but you might mess up your speedo if you get too small of a %.

Thanks

Thank you for the response, I was about to give up. The springs say they will drop about 2" front and rear..Again my main concern is that my car doesen't bounce down the road. I don't expect luxury, but don't want it slamed to the pavement.

Has it been your experience that lowering a Maxima can still provide a compliant ride?

Again thanks for the reply!

Lowell

Drop Zone springs with a 2 inch drop is going to give you a pretty hard ride. Also the 2 inch drop is going to void the warranty on your GR2's. If you want a nice blend of ride comfort and performance, get yourself H&R springs for your car. The drop about 1.4 front and 1.3 rear. The ride is firmer then stock, not to harsh and the handling is awsome.

You might try Maxima.org, look in the for sale forum for used H&R's and you may also be able to sell or even trade the Drop Zone springs if you like. Also try searching the 4th gen forums for Drop Zone and read the feedback on ride quality. Do the same for H&R and you'll get a good idea on what your looking at as far as ride comfort goes.
