The end of 04 is near therefore it is time to select the best car to represent it.


This thread will run till the beginning of December, when the top 10 cars (based on points) nominated here will advance to the final round in the form of a public poll.


Please read carefully the folowing rules:

Each member will be allowed 3 nominations:

1st place will receive 3 points
2nd place 2 points
3rd place 1 point


If the car has already been nominated the points will be added to that respective car, if not the car will be added to the bottom of the list with the points given.

E.g.

Let’s say the following cars are already on the list with their respective points on the right:


Ferrari F430 - 9
Carrera GT - 12
BMW E60 M5 - 5
Dodge Srt4 - 7

Then you'll present your nominations:

#1 BMW e60 M5
#2 Noble M12
#3 Dodge Srt4

And follow up by a "copy and paste" of the list and proceed to make the modifications (make sure to make a note of them by writing the number of points added in between "()"). If the cars are not in the list add them to the bottom with their points.

Make sure your calculations are correct or your points will be removed. And do not rearrange the main list according to points.


You can write a short sentence beside each of your nominations to say why you chose that car.

To be eligible the car must have its Final production version available in 04. So for example both 04 and so called 05 cars are allowed: this includes 04/05 Mustang, 05 Evo Mr, Porsche 996 and 997. 06 Mustang Cobra pre production models or older discontinued before 04 such as the Camaro are not allowed.

Please post only your selections (with a few comments) and the updated list. All other posts will be removed. Feel free to PM me with any comments/suggestions/complaints.

1 - 2005 Chevrolet Corvette - Supercar performance for less than 45K. Words fail to describe this car.

2 - 2005 Ford Mustang - Dramatic improvement over the '04 model. Even more straight-line power (and decent handling too) for less than 25K.

3 - 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR - This car is just ridiculous around a track, and the fact that you buy it for 35K is shocking.

#1- 05 Corvette Z06: Looks that could kill and rated at over 500 HP, can't go wrong.
#2- 05 GTO: The changes they've made for this model year = beautiful.

1. Porsche Carrera GT- Stays true to what a hyper car should be, it's probably as close to perfection as the automobile will ever become.

2. Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo- Simply the best value sedan on the face of the planet. Multilink IRS, Turbo Charged DOHC I6, RWD, oodles of space and a rather nice looking sedan.

3. FIAT Panda- Just because it's awesome to see FIAT trying to build a car for people as opposed to profits. The build quality is excellent compared to other cars of similar price AND Fiat's of old and it is going to be cheap to run AND has lots of space. If a car this good doesn't completely reverse FIAT's fortunes, then nothing will.

1) Pagani Zonda C12S- For reminding makers what a Supercar is, just in case they forget

2) Renault Clio RS 182- One of the best FWD chassis' around, 182 bhp, weighs the better part of fuck all AND costs only about NZ$36,995. Great value for money. Add to that Renault Galerie (Auckland Renault dealer) will sell you a few mods that won't void the warranty. What more could you want for a day-to-day usable track weapon?

3) Maserati Quattroporte- FINALLY some character
has been bought to the luxury car class, by someone who isn't Jaguar. Ferrari development has to be a plus as well, I'd say.
