WRX Vs House

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...1&page=1&pp=25

very interesting thread. The guys claims his throtle stuck, but as you read along its clear that he was racing.

Page one has pics of the car and house, page 8 has satelite photos of the street and page 9 has a funny gif.

Looks like the house won that one. The following quote sums it up for me, except I don't know why he wouldn't just shut the car off?

Quote:
Sorry, but I'm going to call bull**** on your excuse, panache. For two reasons.

First off, in-gear acceleration from 20-80mph in 3rd gear, even in a modified WRX is going to take awhile. Let's say 3/10ths of a G on average (which is being generous). In that case, basic kinematic equations suggest that it would take you roughly 10 seconds to accelerate from 20 mph to 80 mph (like I said, I'm being pretty generous, considering how pitiful 3rd gear acceleration would be at 30mph, and considering the fact that you "stood on the brakes the entire time", as you claimed ). However, in that time you would have travelled almost 730 feet. To better visualize that, that's almost the length of two and a half football fields. Now just where was the corner you were trying to make in relation to this gentleman's house?

Second, I don't care what kind of work you've done to your car, if you had truly stood on the brakes as you claimed, you would have come to a stop. There are very, very few street-legal cars that can overpower their brakes (for a reason, obviously), and I'm doubting yours is one of them. Of course, that's assuming your brakes were in decent condition. If they weren't, then I'd still hold you responsible, because if you've got money to add go-fast parts to your car, then you've got money to perform routine maintenance and keep the car in a safe operating condition.

So, to sum up - your accelerator stuck, you accelerated for over an eighth of a mile, standing on your ineffectual brakes for the entire 10+ seconds that it took to accelerate this distance, and then you drove through this guy's house? Sounds a little fishy to me.

If I were you I'd be thankful no one was hurt, learn from the experience, take responsibility for your actions (there's a novel idea ), and stop driving like a jackass in residential neighborhoods. Either that, or attend some high speed driver's education and learn how to control a car properly.

Oh yes that quote pretty much sums it up. And if you look at the satelite photos its clear that he came way to fast and simply understeered into the corner.

The WOT stuck pedal is bs or only part of the story, if he was going slow as he claims all he would have to do is push the flippin clutch pedal and the brake and he would've stopped in a sec.

Granted, if his throttle was really stuck he might blow the engine doing that. However, I would much rather blow an engine than drive into a house or hot someone head on. This guy clearly was just driving like a jackass and couldn't handle the car, or like you said, he might have been racing.

Either way, this guy shouldn't be behind the wheel of such a car. He should be driving a Metro, with one cold cylinder.

Well with modern engines the ECU has so many safeguards that redlining in neutral will not kill them that fast. He did have an utec piggyback so maybe he did not have a limiter though. Still even in that case say fuck the engine. Can you imagine if people where in the parts of the house he hit.

i would've freaking hit the clutch threw the car in neutral and pull on the e brake, and stomped on the brakes. if the engine flares up, i'd cut the ignition and use the vac reserve on the brakes.

Exactly, you can always replace an engine.

I liked the Porsche turbo badge on the back of the Scooby.

I thought that was a cute touch.

Actually guys, before I had my 'teg I had an S-10, and I've had the throttle stick before. The thing is, I instantly threw it into neutral, powerslid into a 180, ripped the e-brake, and the only problem I had was a blown sparkplug and a little burned clutch, and some stank-ass brakes. This all happened on my VERY first day of driving with my dad in a MASSIVE parking lot (totally empty, around 10 football fields...at least).

So all I have to say, is bullshit about this guys story. Looking at the satellite pictures makes his story so worthless, seeing as he had ample time to stop the car, or at least roll it on the street or something. Any driver that knows how to drive a manual does one thing first when they are in a jam : apply brakes while shifting into neutral. Its common knowledge. If people were playing pool in the garage, he would never get the chance to drive a WRX again because he would be paying in lawsuits till eternity's end.....
