2005 J&H Race Schedule ~ who really wants to street race?

I started putting in dates for my 2005 season.
http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/jhracing.htm

... there will be 2 or 3 more hill climbs, 1 more drag race and a 2 or 3 autocrosses going to be added to that yet. I may also do 1 or 2 track days.

As some of you know my racing is mixed with Drag Racing and SCCA Solo1 Hill Climb racing ... which is real street racing if you ask me.

The hill climbs are held on public roads (closed for the event) and there is no limit to your speed. One car through at a time and you race against the clock. The courses are 1 ~ 2.3 miles and speeds reach in excess of 120 mph (if your car can).

If anyone is interested in getting started in Hill Climbing, feel free to contact me.

It is extremely dangerous.
You do need: roll bar and full driver suit ... and some other small stuff.

So who wants to street race?

Organized racing is the best IMO. There is no excuses when you lose or no "guessing" as to what your car is capable of, lol.

Are you cutting back on drag racing, or just not decided on the rest of the events?

Re: 2005 J&H Race Schedule ~ who really wants to street race?

This year I did 3 NHRA events, 1 IDRC, 1 Summer Slam and 2 Nopie Events.

Nopi cancelled one of their events.
Sumemr Slam & IDRC haven't posted their schedule yet.

I will be doing the 3 NHRA events for sure ... maybe the one NOPI event. I want to concentrate on driving this year ... the hill climbs

I started on the street and the hills are the best adn safest way to go back to the street (legally).

Re: 2005 J&H Race Schedule ~ who really wants to street race?

I see. Well, that sounds cool enough.

Next summer, we plan on goign to more 1/8th tracks. The track where we run (located in Isom, KY, called Mountain Motor Dragway) may or may not be opening, so if it don't, then we'll for sure have to go to other tracks, lol.

Either way, we plan on going to Bristol some, Rogersville TN (Cherokee Dragway or soemthign liek that is what the track is called), London, KY (London Motorplex) and probably Clay City, KY (Mountain Parkway Motorplex).

Jekyl can you pm me info about the Hill climb reg and rules and such. I'm looking at buying a guys old Mustang he used for American Iron East(LimeRock, Watkins Glenn etc..,) events minus the drivetrain for a sweet price. I might use it for this if the car is close enough to meet the rules and specs, and a class of the hill climb events.

Chevytrucks92 when are you planning to hit Bristol and Rodgersville? I think Rodgersville is still open, theres a run on the sixth but I'm not sure if there's going to be anymore, and I really want to go to Rodgersville because Bristol shut down for the season for the "Street Fights". Brackets are still open I think though.

I believe the NASA American Iron safety requirements are at least equal to what is required in SCCA Solo I. If the car has an SCCA log book (it should if it has ever run an SCCA event) you'll be fine. The only things that you may need would be a new harness if the one with it is outdated, and driver's gear of appropriate spec.

kfoote is dead on. There are dates on the harnesses, but also your helmet and driver suit. All need to be up to spec.

The car basically needs a roll bar, 5-point harness and an all metal fire extinguisher.

The Hill Climbs follow the SCCA rules ... so check out www.scca.com for rules for Solo 1 racing.
There is some more information that is hill climb specific (at least for my region) here: http://www.pahillclimb.org

Not sure actually. I checked Rogersville's webpage, and they have a big question mark beside their bracket racing dates, and bracket racing is what we do. Now I don't know if this means weather permitting, or car count permitting. We've only been there once, and they have since redone the track.

Bristol probably want be untill next season so I can't really say about it, but my uncle really wants to go to Rogersville before they close.

Just by glancing at the remaining races, it looks like either tomorrow (which is out for us) or the final race of the season, Nov. 27, would be the best race to go to for us, since they are garunteeing a race. It will take us a good 3 hours probably to get there.

Have you raced at that track before (Rogersville)?

BTW, the webpage for Rogersville is http://www.cherokeeracewaypark.com/

Re: 2005 J&H Race Schedule ~ who really wants to street race?

I haven't been on the track yet, but I use to race at Bristol at the street fights but I've been thinking of going to Rodgersville before the street season closes to get a base line on what my N/A 7 wil do before I swap the turbo engine in. There's a couple of guys running at Rodgersville on the bracket races here so I'll try to ask one of them what the deal is with racing dates.

I heard that.

Well, just post something, because that is the track we're probably going to try and get to before they close.
