Red face The long awaited race: Me versus a Civic

Egh. I was bored, and I found this funny, so I'm posting it. I usually don't.

If you have a car as jacked-up looking as mine, but quick as it is, it gets fun picking on Civic drivers that get too cocky with their cars. I've done it quite a few times, especially to the ones that are barely-modded, with a body-kit. As a former Civic, and Integra-owner myself, I can usually tell. My car looks even more sleeper now, as I took-off the stock back-wing.

Anyhow, driving to work Friday morning, briskly as I usually do, I notice this Civic pacing me. No biggie.

It was a basically stock Civic DX, that looked to be from the 2002 era.

I also notice he seemed to be taking-off quick at every light, right next to me.

Understand, I usually take it to about 4000 rpm, in every gear, till 3rd, every time I take off from the light (my redline is 7500). This is usually good enough to leave most vehicles that are taking-off normally next to me. It's just me. I like 'clear space' around me when I drive.

The fact that he's next to me everytime, means that this kid was taking it much higher than 4K, as my car puts out more WTQ than his at 2K rpm, than at his peak.

So, I take it to 5K, at the next light (LONG drive to work - no traffic at 6 am), just to see, and he falls back steadily.

At the next light, there was a van in-between us at the three-lane light, so I couldn't see what he was doing at first, but I eventually see him ahead by a car, which means that he was REALLY pushing it.

So I said, "screw it" (I say that a lot), and just floored it (I was still in second). I proceed to blow by him, and was ahead by 6 cars or more in a hurry.

At the next light, I take-off normal, just to see, and sure enough, homeboy launches, maybe thinking he got suckered the last time (or something).

I just take-off after him without launching, and this time, I take it to 90+, as this was a looong stretch (at least a mile), before the next light, with absolutely no other cars besides him and me, on this three-lane stretch, surrounded by a median to my left, and a wall to our right.

This time, he was behind me 10+ cars, probably more. His headlights were dots.

I get to the next light, laughing, and he has no choice, but to get next to me (eventually).

He looks at my car, without looking at me, with this look: .

So yeah, a real Battle of the Titans, I know, but I guess he needs to realize, newer does not necessarily mean faster.

Nice Kill. I'm not going to defend Civic Drivers. Especially if you think your civic is extrememly fast when it's stock. That bothers me. I know how fast my car is and I know when to race and when not to. Oh well, hope he learned his lesson. Late...

Re: The long awaited race: Me versus a Civic

your not the only one that shifts at 4k in evryday driving...i just like seeing who keeps up with me. i am constantly raceing to the speedlimit even with my mom in the car. today i raced and ol F-150 with a Fugy hood scoop and maybe exaust. sounded like ASS. i pulled a good 3/4 car length on him by 50 (5 over the limit) then when we get out where it is 60mph. there is only 1 dual lane stop light on this street and by chance he is next to me. i take it to 80. put 3 on him then let off because my mom starts noticing im doing 20 over the limit. then he does a ricer fly by. oh well... its not jsut honda drivers any more...

Even though I would have probably beat him in my family SUV, I was driving my 1992 Sentra SE-R.

I know a guy with a 2004 Civic Si, and why do those owners think Civics are the absolute bomb? Anytime a Civic goes by, he names the model and starts listing off options and bang for the buck. He notices Civics before Vipers. And he keeps trying to race my VR4, and I keep completely disappearing from sight but he won't stop trying. Not all Civic owners are like that, but a lot of them are, as per this story.

You wouldn't believe me, so I'll this bring this up again. Most people around here are familiar with my car.

I wasn't aware that their were qualifications to beating a dx. i don't think I haven't met one person yet who really knows about the oldschool se-r's besides other se-r owners so they make great sleepers especially when you slap on a xe badge, and take of the spoiler. BTW SE-R stands for SERious. sike I have no clue myself.
