head swap

okay here is my question for all of ya's, here it goes......allright i know about swaps, the frankenstein, the mini me, all that crap, my question is would it be possible to swap a vtec head onto my prelude s bottom end, i want vtec, i've never had it and i know i'd be faster, so if it's possible what all would i need to make it possible without doin the swap, i'm pretty sure i'd need ecu, vtec solenoid, camshaft, ne others i would need, i'm sure there are more, just get back to me on this if u can, thanx

for what its worth, go for the whole h22 swap. you'll be much happier.
you would have to build up the motor eventually, b/c the vtec motors rev higher, and your motor isnt designed to rev that high...
i would go for vtec motor...

im not familiar with the S model, but it should work. it's supposed to be a nice hybrid, another one to think about is the crvtec, its got a lot of torque to it, since half of it is for an SUV u want more info my name on po.com is kyle h.

Go for the JDM H22a. www.jdmhondaparts.com has a 2000 Type-S motor for $4500. The motor has everything you need. Plus it has 220hp and an LSD in the tranny. Very rare to find one of these. Go with the swap. You can't go wrong. Also if you prefer to stay with the USDM motor...Jerome Soh from www.sohfast.com has a few Prelude motors for like $2300. E-mail him and he will tell you whatever you want to know. He is a really nice guy.

Alan

Wish I would have done the swap.

hey... the crvtec is nothing compared to the h22a.

the crv motor is a b20. that is what was in the 88-91 prelude. same stuff, just modded a bit. however, the tq of that motor might be nice, but the internals of the crvtec motor cant take the revs the vtec head is capable of... you'll blow it up.

I will disagree with everyone on this one. I dont see spending 2400+ on 60 horses. I would do the following
get the vtec head and mount it
.02 overbore on the motor
get rods/pistons
port and polish the head
get an LSD tranny.
this way you will have better than JDM spec motor and have more power to show for it. it will have no miles on it and it will be better investment in the long run.
