it's just dumb. It's sad that they are trying to be cool by putting different badging on their car . It's also really easy to tell an RS, WRX, and STI apart, so everyone knows that they aren't driving the real thing.

Re: STi Posers?

I don't see the point of putting badges on your car to make out it's something it isn't.

I have STI foglight covers that say STI on them. That doesn't mean I claim that my car is an STI.

So not EVERYONE is a loser ricer. But yea, there are some that have sti emblems on WRX's, but then again, some of them have extensive work done, and actually rival STI's.

that just means you are using STi parts, because STi is subarus tuning arm.....they are talking about badges, like the WRX STi badges on the trunk and the STi on the grill and what not.

on my rex, im getting the STi hood scoop, and the STi wing, but it will be completly debadged. only reason im gettung the hood scoop = larger volume of air to the intercooler, and the wing...well everyone knows the STi wing is just dead sexy.

Re: STi Posers?

if you have everything that would make your car an sti then by all means do it, whatever. Only ones that i dislike are the ones that are RS's and have badges, no work done, and have the STi badges. At least the subaru community is a little mroe sensible than the others. I went to the movies a few months ago and saw a civic GT-R........

Re: STi Posers?

Thats what i mean those people that cruise round in a totally stock RS n stick n sti badge and bullshit to people bout their 'mods'....this is what i call a poser. If someone has a mad car and you can see that theres a lot of work under the hood then i dont see a problem with sti parts. Its just those guys i said before i have a problem with but oh well, sorry if anyone misunderstood what i meant i didnt mean it like that.
Cheers

Re: STi Posers?

Yeah... not a big fan of STi badges on non-STi cars (or TypeR badges or ///M badges or whatever). I am, however, a proponent of putting an STi decal on the side racecar style if you have STi parts on the car. I hate it when people say stuff like, "That guy shouldn't have STi stuff on his car if it's not an STi." The car may not be STi trim level, but it has STi (the company) parts. It's like putting Tein or Stoptech labels on stuff. It's acceptable if you have the parts. Or, if your RS or WRX can smoke an STi because of all the mods you've done to it, by all means re-badge it. There's a guy that shows up at some of the autocrosses I go to with a C5 Corvette, and it has a C5R decal on it. It didn't come from the factory as a C5R, but now it is worthy of the sticker so it doesn't bother me. I guess it's a subjective thing for me. I think on a branding level (not performance), I put the Impreza WRX STi in the same category as the Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer, since STi is a separate entity within the Subaru umbrella, unlike Redline which is part and parcel of the Saturn name brand or MazdaSpeed which is part and parcel of Mazda.

same with me. i totally agree with you, and thats what i was trying to get at in my reply. decals are acceptable, but i think the badges should be left to the trim level.

Re: STi Posers?

Decals, badges...all the same. Rebadging when you have enough mods to beat an STI?? C'mon, if you want to have the STI badge that badly, buy a F***ing STI.

Decals if you have parts on them?? I really don't get the point of that. Are you putting the parts in for the performance, or because you just want to put the decals on to let people know that you've got them?? I personally like those cars that look subtle without a bunch of F***ing decals but still kick you butt. Decals and rebadging are just juvenile in my humble opinion. I'm sure a lot would disagree...go ahead...put your decals on so that you can let other people know that you've got them.

Re: STi Posers?

well....decals are a good way of making a clean car, cleaner. were not talking about outrageous vinyl, but stratigically and tastefully placed brand logos. and STi is subaru's tuning arm, not a trim level. if youve got STi parts in the car, toss an STi decal on there. badging is just stupid.

I'm not sure what you mean... making clean car cleaner by putting decals on...I would imagine that it would look "cleaner" without a bunch of crap on it.

IMHO, only people who should put decals are pepole who have sponsors, meaning that they have to put them on. But that's where our opinions part...
