one wheel peel

I did a burnout today and I noticed something odd. only one wheel was spinning. I have heard of this before but I never knew what they did to correct it. Any suggestions?

what model is your car GT 5.0 LX or 4 banger? cause all the 5.0 had the posie rear end you might have worn out clutches or if you have a 4 banger you never had posie.

IF you have4 a stock V8 car you just worn the clutches in your Trac-Loc out..... very common you just need to pull it out and rebuild it.

Re: one wheel peel

I'd rather rebuild an engine! At least it smells better.

LoL this is true. Gear oil almost smells worse than a burnt clutch.

Yeah I helped a friend of mine change out the fluid in his 83 lincoln limo. Original fluid!!! I was gagging the whole time, it was that bad!

By the way, for future reference. Ford uses the term Trac-Loc, versus GM's Posi-Trac name.

Re: one wheel peel

trac-loc is posi rear. both tires spin. power to both tires rather then just one.

Re: one wheel peel

Re-doing the clutch packs in the trac-loc is not so bad. Be very careful that you get them back in the right order. The really tough part is getting that %*&** s-spring back in. Soak the clutches in the friction modifier you get with the kit for about 15 minutes. This will save a lot of weird noises as they break in. The friction modifier is pretty foul-smelling..... I'm sure there's a step by step over on the corral @ www.corral.net.
