this is probably a 50part question, any help would be great... so here we go.
1. how do i take out the resonator box? there was a little black box left of the battery, 4-5 tubes. one i believe goes up to the injection. one comes from the resonator, and who the hell knows what the rest do. 2.What is that piece im taking out? do i still need it with a cai?? 3.and if i do how do i connect it, now that the resonator is gone? also if any of you have pics of your cai installed or pics of the process that would help alot. ...thanx to those participating in todays experiment |

I don't have a CAI. I do have a Short Ram Intake. On my install the resonator box you speak of was not removed. On a CAI I would have believed that it would not be removed either. You pose a good question. My only suggestion would have been to change your battery position to the trunk. This would allow you a path to direct your CAI. The resonator box wouldn't be in the way in this case. I haven't seen a CAI for a 90 Accord yet. What brand is it? Maybe you could go to thier web site for installation instructions. Just a guess. Good luck on your install. Be is a pic of my SRI.

the thing is, i thought the filter for a cai went into the bumper well, therefore the resonator would need to be removed to make room for it.
but thanx for the idea. ive thought about moving the battery, i saw pics another guy posted about his moved battery. but i need all the room i can get, ive already got a bandpass box in there. also, whats that vemon thing for? and do you know any sites i can get one from(depending on what it does of course) |

well thanks every1, with some blind luck i did it. i didnt take off the bumper like i had been told in the past, i just went through the fender wall.
i noticed that there isnt alot surrounding the filter. inside the well, theres about a 1/4inch of the wall that overlaps keeping water out. and i could see through to the front bumper. has anyone had problems with water actually getting to the filter? either through the fender well or by spashing through the bumper? or am i being a little paranoid? i know aem makes a bypass, but my cai isnt. is the bypass universal or is there something special about the aem cai's that allow use of it?? |

you can use the bypass from AEM cause it's fits on standard tubing, I think it's 3.5 inches diametre but I'm not sure. Check the specs first. But if you do that, you'll resolve a lot of problem caused by water in ur filter.
Peace y'all, Raph...

I didnt move my battery to a different spot, I just removed to install the cai. If your your going to move it, the best place would be the trunk. You dont have to take the bumper off to install the cai...you just have to take the tire off, then you can get to the fenderwell. You dont need the bypass valve unless your going to take a dip in a river. Ive had my cai for about 4 years now, and never had any problems with hydrolock. Ive been through some huge puddles and bad rainstorms and snowstorms, and the cai is still running great.

well i made a poorman's cover using a cut in half resonator box(since the mounting bolts were already there) and from the front, it shields the filter top to bottom, so im hoping it does the job.
but i wanted to know what i unplugged, heres a link the the pic, i dont know how to post it here, sorry. http://photos.imageevent.com/strodda...762battery.jpg it to the right of the battery, you cant see it, but if you have the same car youll know what im talking about. i wanted to know, what is it?? and do i still need it. thanx |

are you talking about the plastic piping that was there? or the piece that connected the stock intake? I know you can get rid of the plastic piping that was there, and I think i got rid of the piece that held the stock intake in place too. As far as covering the intake...you dont want to really cover it, because it wont be able to suck in all the air it needs or can. I would just take off the cover...it wont hydrolock unless its 6" under water...which would be about 2 or 3 feet high of water. Like I said before, Ive had my intake for about 4 years now and never had any problems.
