EGR valve and wiper motor placement
Hello,
I am wondering if someone could help me with two quick questions. 1. I need to clean the carbon from my EGR valve and install a Kleen Screen EGR Gasket. Where is the EGR valve located? 2. Where is the 'wiper motor circuit board' located? I have a replacement and just need a little direction. Thanks in advance to all that reply. Your help is greatly appreciated. Jando G |

Re: EGR valve and wiper motor placement
Tell us your year.
Also, don't install the gasket, you WANT to get the carbon out of your engine, not trap it in there. |

Re: EGR valve and wiper motor placement
The wiper motor may be under a recall. I had mine replaced earlier this year on a 97 blazer.

Re: EGR valve and wiper motor placement
It's 1998.
ok, I won't install the gasket. I still want to clean it out though. So the EGR valve is under the intake. So where is the intake? I am out of my element as soon as I open the hood. I don't believe '98s are covered in that wiper motor circuit board recall but I could be wrong. Do you know where it is located so I can replace it? Thanks for your replies. |

The pulse wiper motor circuit board is on the wiper motor body itself, but is taken off separate. Open hood, locate wiper motor. Unplug the electrical socket, undo the screws in the face plate and CAREFULLY pry plate away from body. It will stick a bit as they use a black silicone to prevent moisture.
Quite easy to do, I had to be a little more carful with mine as I was too cheap to buy a new one and just cleaned it up and used the solder fix (resoldered five connectors on back of board). Been 6 months now and still works great. Knock on wood! |

The core value ???? $0.50. Ha.. 50 cents. Before buying the new unit, I did inspect all solder joints, and I didn't see any bad joints , I work with circuit boards for a living, so I consider myself capable of finding bad solder joints. (I was under the impression there were some bad joints on the axial leaded capacitors that are bent over to fit inside the motor housing, which led to broken or intermittant contact on the leads) |
