Ford Escort RS "Cossack"

This is my last posting for today, I've now started on a 'bike which may take some time as I have little opportunity for my hobby!

This is the Ford Escort RS sponsored by "Cossack" hairspray as driven by the great, and sorely missed, Roger Clark on the 1976 RAC rally.







The kit is the Esci Ford Escort RS "British Airways" crystal view from the 80s/90s. PLEASE REVELL RE-RELEASE THIS KIT I only have one left and they're getting really hard and expensive to find! The decals are limited issue from MRM International, and I added some wiring to the jewel of a BDA 16v, the correct links to the rear suspension (although the photo of this was really poor), and the aluminium rear axle brace.
The kit was from the last mid-nineties re-release and the quality of plastic was terrible, really soft and rubbery. My other example seems a lot better. Another problem I had was the front suspension track which is far too narrow but it was too late when I found out. I'll change that next time.
Esci released this kit as British Airways, Rothmans and Eaton Yale, all of which I've built in the last twenty years, and there have been several decal sets including this one, Rothmans '81 and Castrol '78 but all are getting scarce. Try Grand Prix Models?

I actually thought the Cossack sponsorship was from Cossack Vodka

The writing on the car looks more like the Vodka's label to me.

I just googled it and found the exact same picture Ray! Font on the car is more like the vodka to me... No big deal either way, although I'd prefer to think of Roger Clark driving a vodka sponsored car than a hairspray one

The script on the bonnet and boot lids says "Mens Hair Spray", sorry guys. Famous advertising campaign in the seventies when Roger Clark himself starred in the TV adverts (think Henry Cooper - "Splash It All Over" - Brut33). The script on the hairspray tin has changed brand image since then, must admit I'd never seen the vodka...

Just checked some pictures and you are absolutely correct GenX. All this could have been avoided if you had been able to post some higher res pictures of this fabulous little model!
