Peugeot 206WRC RallyGB 2002 Rossi

I had what amounted to a whole car left over from my Monte Carlo Peugeot to make this - it is the car that Valentino Rossi (MotoGP super-hero, just became world champion again) entered on the RallyGB in 2002. Unfortunately he only made it to half way through the second special stage and was caught out by tricky road conditions. I think this event was a bit of a steep learning curve but I feel he will be back!

Again, the photos aren't great.

I used the body and interior from the 20 '01 version and the chassis and suspension from the '02 Winners Version. I know the wheels are wrong but I couldn't find any decent copies of the ones actually used. Tricky to mask the blue/yellow "half-and-half" colour-scheme. Decals are Studio27 and the big Michelin man on the bonnet was a bit see-through, photo-etch from Acu-Stion and, although not visible here, the interesting photo-etched belts from Eduard.

Very nice work. How did you find the Studio 27 decal set? I am thinking of doing this car myself, but would like an opinion before stumping up the cash.

Thanks everyone.

Potsie: The Studio27 kit was really nice but for a couple of things. Firstly the big Michelin Man sticker on the bonnet isn't white enough and the joion of the yellow and blue paint can be seen underneath (plus I didn't smooth the join enough!), secondly there's a gold stripe goes down the middle of the car lengthways which is split into sections and, especially around the rear spoiler, the numbering of what goes where is a bit confusing. Just test which length seems to fit which section best.

There isn't much in the way of reference for this car, I used a picture in that years Rallycourse in a Michelin editorial feature, plus I have the excellent Ixo Models 1/43rd diecast to help. The tricky thing is to get the correct bodyshell with the right roof scoops. As far as I can tell it's a 2001 car and looking back through Martin Holmes' World Rally annuals seems to back this up.
