tryin to get things rollin

this whole sub-forum thing is slow rolling, so ill try to help jump start it. im lookin into gettin some lowering springs here in the next week. i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on who to go with. i've been looking at eibach for a while, but im interesting in your opinions.

also, this coming winter i am going to be getting the QA1 HAL shocks coilover kit. i was originally going to get the the springs, shocks, and everything else i need all at once. you guys think i should just get the springs now to spread the cost, or wait for everything?

Re: tryin to get things rollin

Springs and suspention - hotchkis has been a leading name in the biz for a long time, in fact they sell a complete suspention kit for the camaros that goes for 1300 bucks i think, and it has EVERYTHING for our suspentions, including tuned one inch drop springs. you can find it at www.fbodymotorsports.com

for shocks, QA1 HAL shocks are of course great choices, however i have read some very intruiging things about edelbrocks Performer IAS shocks, but have not seen any independend reviews of them so cant tell ya if they are really as good as they sound. but they use technology developed for edurance race cars running the 24 hours of lemans so they sound pretty interesting to me.

Re: tryin to get things rollin

yeah i looked into those edelbrocks, they look pretty promising. i like the technology that they employ, wish there were more reviews on em. i think im more interested in the coilovers on the front end with the HALs, and i was looking to spend 1300 bucks, but hopefully not all at once...

I think 3rd and 4th Gen Camaro's use the same basic spring set-up as Mustangs, if not then ignore this part. Just so you understand if your going to goto coil-overs any springs you buy now are wasted money cause you will need to use different spings for coil-overs. So I would just wait.

But if you know that and don't care I would reccomend looking at H&R Springs, around the same price as Eibach and I liked them a lot more than Eibachs. They seemed better and the turns well not delivery as harsh a ride quality.

Re: tryin to get things rollin

good deal.

also, concerning the coilover idea. i found a set of spring pans that allow you to use pretty much any spring with coilovers. the ones i found are made specifically for the HAL shocks on the f-bodies. ill look into the H&Rs, thanks...

I dunno what you are looking at but most aftermarket coil-overs usually all use the same spring as far as mounting specs is concerned and then can be bought in many different specifications.

There is no way you can use a spring made for a stock Camaro suspension on coil-overs just so totally different... I maybe wrong but I seriously doubt it. Maybe you can send me a link?

Re: tryin to get things rollin

http://www.bmrfabrication.com/F-bodySuspension.htm the spring cups are about halfway down the page, they are from BMR which i have dealt with before and they make good stuff. i certainly wasnt going to go into that suspension upgrade blind. i was going to look into how well these cups work, if at all.

also, what do you guys think of B&G suspension? i dont think ive ever heard anything about them, and i dont want to look into them just cause they are cheaper than all the others...

Re: tryin to get things rollin

i heard that u can get kyb front struts and rear shocks that are pretty good quality and if u buy them togather from jegs or summit im not sure which they are just like 130 or somethin as for springs i have also heard very good things about the edelbrock performers but have actually only seen two personal reviews but both were good ones

Re: tryin to get things rollin

i really want adjustable shocks, and the QA1s include coilovers on the front. its either those or the edelbrocks, but shocks are for a later date, right now im worried about springs. im thinkin i might go with the H&R, ill have to look around to see what i can get where...
