92 Lude Si Problems =( (Speedometer)

I just purchased a 92 Prelude SI ... Loving it believe me !

Anyhow - My engine light comes on sometimes but my main problem is my speedometer ... Sometimes it works ... Other times it dosent .. Guy @ the dealership said it has something to do with my distributor ...

Now I dont wanna go all out and just get a new distributor ... I heard maybe its a loose wire or something ? Perhaps a BAD wire?

No warrenty from Dealer so I'm basically screwed & clueless ...
If I dont get any good responses I'm going to have to fork up a ton of $$ to figure out what the problem is =P

Any ideas/pics/etc would be greatly appriciated =T

Hey, I'd go buy a manual for your car, like a Haynes manual. Then look in it and check all the wires that run to the speedometer before you go forking over a lot of dough. You might want to take your guage cluster out and check all of the connections in the back of it also.

Way ahead of you LoL .. Got mine through E-Bay ... Now just waiting for it ... I remember taking out my cluster on my Civic - Wanna be safe this time so waiting for that manual .... Anyone else w/ suggestions?

The guy at the dealership could be right in whatever he said about the distributor. I know the 92's are notorious for their distributors going bad. I would have it replaced, and if nothing else, you've solved a problem for yourself down the road.
