Question trans-to-axle seal installation

As anyone installed a passenger-side trans-to-drive shaft seal on a '95 G20 automatic? My seal is leaking after I installed a rebuilt drive shaft. From the manual (Haynes Primera manual), it looks to be a nearly impossible task to intall the seal properly without some sort of tool to limit how far it is driven into the trans case. I was just wondering if anyone had tried the job and gotten it seated properly.

The questions:
1. How did you get the seal in at the proper depth?
2. Did you have to remove anything besides the half shaft when you did the intall?
3. Could someone please post the page from the FSM on this install?
