New Sub Forums for Special Edition Mustangs?

Dear AF Members,

We have been recently adding forums and sub forums to several locations on the board in an attempted to tailor our community to our user's needs.

Here in the Mustang forum it has come up that mabey you would like sub forums for special edition Mustangs. A place to discuss the Saleen, Rousch, or Shelby series of cars. Something similar to how the RUF forums were added to Porsche.

If this is something you would like to see, please let us know. If you have any suggestions about the structure or type of forums to be added, please do not hesistate to post up your opinion!

Thanks,
-The AF Admin Team

As far as the subforums go, I'm kicking them around in a couple different places. What would you guys think about a structure similar to this one?

Okay, from what I gather, it sounds like its best to do the following:

When you click on the DSM forum it will open up an there will be listed at the top the sub forums.

1. Performance (Engine/Drivetrain/Suspension)
2. Non-Peformance (Interior/Exterior)
3. Problem Diagnosis

Then below will be the regular posting area like it is now. Essentially we are turning the main forum into the newb talk, off topic sub forum. Then there will be the specific subforums.

What do you guys think?

-Jacob
Except there would be two subforums instead of three, the mustang forums would be 'Specialty Stangs' and 'Technical'.

What do you think?
-Jacob

Re: New Sub Forums for Special Edition Mustangs?

I would personally think it a great improvement if V8 and V6 were separated, not necessarily as specific as GT/Cobra, just maybe split into early 'stangs, V-6, and GT/Cobra/Saleen.

I haven't seen too many Saleen/Roush/Steeda owners here.

Okay,

How about if we set it up as the main forum is a sort of OT/General forum and then we have Early Stang, V-6, and GT/Cobra/Saleen subforums?

Would that take care of everything?

There's too many models and types of Mustangs to get into detailed specifics of different subforums.
Example;
-4 cyl
-Turbo 4cyl
-inline 6
-V6
-Push rod V8
-Modular V8
-V10 (Terminator)

My thoughts to Jacob were a General Mustang section, which will contain more of the off topic threads. Then Subforums under that, such as aTechnical section, and a Specialty section.

Another idea would be to break it down into years.
-Classic Mustangs 1st and 2nd generation, 64-78
-Fox Mustang, all third gen's 79-93
-Late model Mustangs, 94-current including the new 05.

Just a few idea's there, but I don't think we need things too crazy, and I think the basics would better suit the needs of this forum.

I kind of like they way the DSM forum was seperated as far as having:

Performance Mods:
Non-performance Mods: (styling etc..,)
Problem diagnosis: (Really like that being seperated)

And then the regular forum for general, off-topic and all that may not apply above.

I wanted to try and add the subforums tonight, do we have a consensus yet about what we want to do with the Mustang forum?

I can set it up like the DSM forum
  • Performance
  • Non performance
  • problem diagnosis

or we can split it by generation of car
  • 1st and 2nd gen
  • fox bodies
  • new mustangs

or by engines
  • old mustangs
  • V-6
  • GT/Cobra/Saleen

Which way do you guys want to go?

Thanks,
-Jacob

Re: New Sub Forums for Special Edition Mustangs?

I would prefer the way the DSM forums are set up, like the way GTStang mentioned above, but I still like the orig idea of a specialty section.
