Continental GT vs. DB9 vs. CL65

All of them are big GT's, all of the are 6.0 litre, all of them are wallet criplingly expensive, but which is for you?

Bently Continental GT:

£110'000
Top speed of 198mph
0-62 in4.7
6.0 litre W12
AWD

Aston Martin DB9 Vantage/Volante:

£103'000(coupe)/£108'000(cabrio)
Top speed of 186
0-62 in 4.9
6.0 V12
RWD

Mercedes CL65 AMG

£120'000
Top speed of 155mph limited (202mph un-limited)
0-62 in 4.6
6.0 V12 Bi-turbo
RWD

My choice, the DB9. Beauty like that can't be argued with!

Re: Continental GT vs. DB9 vs. CL65

I know the Benz would be the smart choice...but I am going to go w/the Aston Martin for looks...since it IMHO outshines the others...it may not be as fast as the Benz or as cushy as the Bentley...but gotta love an Aston!

The DB9 isnt the fastest, isnt the nicest, and isnt the biggest, yet I feel more attracted to that car then any of the others. One of the most beautiful cars ever built.

Re: Continental GT vs. DB9 vs. CL65

One of the most beautiful cars ever built.

i'm gonna deviate slightly
but
is it?

i mean in general are the modern cars as beautiful as their older brethren?
how does the DB9 compare to the DB4 GT zagato?

the same with the modern ferrari.
the 360, was 'interesting' when it was first released and like the 550,
the looks grow on you but is it as capitivating as the 246 Dino on which it's design was partially based?
or the 250 GTO (or any 250 for that matter)?

am i the only one that thinks that there's something 'generic' and 'dead' about modern car designs?

or is it really just down to superior knowledge of physics/engineering playing a much greater role in design that leads to very similar shapes/angles/lines/proportions?

anyway.
rant over.

back to the thread.
i'm not naturally a fan of mercedes benz.
not sure why.
might have something to do with the image.
i've yet to see a DB9 but i've had a couple of encounters with the bentley.

tough choice but i think i'd go with the Aston.
i prefer the look of it.
the bently is huuuuuuge and i much prefer the smaller lithe cars.

Re: Continental GT vs. DB9 vs. CL65

This is probably just the tiredness speaking, but the CL65 makes the most sense. The Bentley GT is too much Volkswagen-Audi for my liking and the DB9, while attractive has a few flaws.

The CL65 on the other hand, seems more or less perfect. I could live with having the cheapest badge if it meant I got a car that was true to it's predecessors and itself.

Re: Continental GT vs. DB9 vs. CL65

i would have to agree with most people on this one, the aston would be my choice. the aston martin is on of the best GT cars out there imo. great looks and the speed to go with it.

Re: Re: Continental GT vs. DB9 vs. CL65

This decision is very easy for me. The DB9 is more beautiful and classy than the slightly drug-dealer CL65, and i would happily drive something that looks and sounds so good.

I wouldn't drive the Bentley if you paid me. The whole thing is just wrong, and have you seen the rear 3/4? Hideous!

Very good point, but let's keep this thread on topic, so discuss here

If you're going to drive a Bentley, drive a fucking BENTLEY!

Twin-Turbo 6.75L OHV V8 producing 420bhp and 650lb ft of torque, propelling this 5401lb RWD coupe from not to 60mph in 5.7seconds with the 1/4 coming in at 15.1seconds at 106mph.

Nothing rides like a proper Bentley. Nothing drives like a proper Bentley. NOTHING Volkwagen will build in the next billion years will ever top a proper Bentley.

Fuck Audi. Fuck VW. And fuck the beancounter that let Crewe's finest get overrun by a bunch of Beetle building cockbites. I hope that exec dies in a fiery crash while driving his pregnant guppy look-alike "Continental GT".

Wow...I'm the only one who voted for the Benz. Sorry, but 738 ft-lb of torque is just too cool to pass up.
