I am not sure about the other model accords, but the 4 gens the battery is right in front of the air box... so by moving the batt to the back it lets more clean cooler air into the intake or even the air box!!! but mainly for those with intakes...

go to "this is my $25 intake" and you can kinda see how much room it gives you under the hood!!! that intake is longer than any you would buy.. so with a short arm intake you would have a ton of room!!!
