AMT, Bugatti EB 110, any one built or heard of?

I found this at a fle market today and knew I had to buy it. Only costs 10$, ive never even heard of this car untill today, but looked awesome. Its a V12 Quad Turbo, WHOA!

Look for a progress thread soon.

But has any one built this car in the past?

EDIT
Sorry not built by AMT, but my Monogram, my bad.

Re: AMT, Bugatti EB 110, any one built or heard of?

I have one that I started but didnt get far before something else made me put it down. I noticed the main chassis pieces show signs of warpage and the engine cover piece was warped badly. I still have some straightening out to do on it. I have seen a built up one at a contest and it looked really good, hence I bought one. I planned to get back to it soon.

Looking at the engine on the box it looks excellent, possibly some of the best ive seen out of the box from any car, even Tamiya, then again i've never built any Tamiya Race Cars. But looking at the instructions every thing that comes from the turbo is labeled as an exahaust, so I cant really answer about the detail till I start building it. I will start some time tonight, just getting the body put together for painting tomorow.

From what i can see, nothing is warped, there is a small bit of flash, but nothing bad.

I used to the search button here on AF, and found quite a few people have this kit, but I havent found a single picture of a completed model.

Was $10 a good price for it? Im thinking this might have practically been a steal...

I built a Bburago version. Its a diecast one. The car looks pretty hot and the engine is incredible. I wouldnt mind taking a spin in the real thing.

Dude, where have you been?

This car is known to be one of the greater supercars of the twentieth century!
It's an amazing blend of raw power and gracious design !

you shoud try to make a decent version of the street version if you don't like race cars, it sure will be a hit in my book!

Oli

Hey don't hate too much, its not his fault that Bugatti peters in and out of sociotey. If anyone could hook me up with this kit I'd enjoy that.

The Monogram EB110 kit is one of their better efforts with lots of fiddly detail and a very unique subject. The car itself was an ill-fated attempt by Romano Aritoli to revive the brilliant Bugatti name with what would be the world's fastest, most powerful car ever.

Unfortunately, the EB110 fell 4mph short of the goal of fastest, because the equally ill-fated Jaguar XJ220 had already entered production. However, with 560bhp, it definitely held the power record until the McLaren F1 was introduced.

I remember getting that same kit as a present a long, long time ago. I started messing around with it, but never got far. too much body warp and I had too many other kits that have kept me occupied. Not even sure if I have it anymore.

Nice score supratuner. A race car would be very interesting but would require plenty of mods I’d assume. Michael Schumacher used to have a bright yellow road version, probably still does.

You know, with an interesting color choice, some flashy 18 or 19" rims, and a way to deal with the 'fakeness' of the headlights (would probably be better with a darker body color) this car could be really quite a head turner.

I am going to paint it some kind of red color, not sure of the name since I have'nt looked at the can of paint in a long time. Its by Plasticolor.

Next I am going to use the Nismo wheels that came with the Tamiya R34 GTR V Spec 2.

I tried fitting several different wheels that i have unter the wheel wells last night, and those are what give me the lowest ride height with out it sitting on the ground. I think im gonna put a B18C5 into the engine bay too... just kidding about that. I couldn't resist it.

The interior should be mostly black along with a few silver parts, possibly a silver dash, or Gunmetal dash.

I think Airfix also made this a while back in 1/24, i just wish Tamiya would too. IMO, just make some subtle modifications, it's already a supercar.
