Hello All. I am new to this forum and I just wanted to thank all of you in advance for any help/advice that you might be able to offer to me.
I recently purchased a 1995 3000GT with 94K Miles on it. I, myself, have put on 1,000 miles so far. It's a standard, and as far as I can tell, the internals are unmodded. There is one noticable external mod though, and that is Angel Eyes Headlights. The guy I bought my car from said that he has not had the timing belt/water pump replaced. Enough about my car though- on to the problem at hand. I have recently learned how to drive a standard because I am quickly becoming an automotive enthusiast. My problem is whenever I hit the brakes hard, or when I take a hard turn- my stall light comes on. Obviously, I am not stalling because there is no violent bucking. I am just curious to know if it is the water pump/timing belt...or if this is a new rising problem. Please assist me. It might be my driving. I doubt it is how I am driving because from what I can tell, I am doing a decent job. Please don't flame me for this post. I am only seaching for helpful and useful advice. Thanks! |

Welcome aboard, its an honor to have a new member in our family. I suggest you get that timming belt changed and soon, 94,000 miles is really pushing it. get the timming belt, water pump, tensiones and you'll be set, also look into 3SXperformance.com they have a kevlar timming belt that will take some serious beating. As for the stall light......I never heard of a stall light! where is it located? if its in the guage cluster i've never seen it and my car has stalled out many times. you might be seeing a brake or washer fluid light come on. it makes sense, when you brake or corner the fluid in your washer resivour and brake, clutch, and coolant resivous will sway and move back and forth and side to side, if the fluid levels are low then it could set off the sensor and give you a warning light on the cluster. check your fluids levels chief, if thats not it than come back an tell us which light exactly it it and we can go from there. hey, ive only seen angel eyes on one 3s before, where can I get a pair?

The first time I saw the windshield washer fluid light (at the time I did not know what the light was for) come on, I flipped out. I had to pull over to the side of the road and pull out my owner's manual. Then I quickly felt relieved and a little silly for having a panic attack over windshield washer fluid. The washer fluid light looks very different from other cars I've owned. The best place to look is your owner's manual to explain all the little lights, but if you don't have one describe where it is on your console and someone should be able to help you.
P.S. I've never seen angel eyes what do they look like, they sound really cool. |

Re: In Need Of Advice
Well, thank you for the quick and non-flaming responses.
Now, on to the matter at hand, have you ever seen the little trash can looking light in the bottom right corner, near the speedometer? That is the light I am talking about. I did not get a service manual with my 3000GT so it's kinda hard to identify what the light means. When I have stalled on previous occassions, this has been the light that comes on. I only assumed that the little trash can light meant "stall". If someone with a service manual could enlighten me, that would be fantastic... |

I've read about this problem ocurring, turns out it the coolant level sensor that gets dirty, and all you need to do is clean it. I can't remember off the top of my head where it is located, but i'll check and get back to ya. In the meantime, you might try to flush your coolant system and put new coolant in. its suggested that you change your coolant once a year, so if you haven't done it in a while, go ahead, and that may solve your problem... it solved mine. good luck

Re: In Need Of Advice
Awesome. At least you came to same conclusion we did. My dad and I went out there and looked under the hood, and we checked the coolant level. It is definitely a bit low and it is definetly dirty. So I guess I'll have to get out there and flush the system pretty soon. In the mean time, I am going to add some coolant to it in hopes that maybe that will supress the problem for a little while, at least until I have time to crawl under there and get the job done.
Thanks for the diagnosis and thank you to all who gave me input on my problem. |

Re: In Need Of Advice
For future reference, below is a link to a post regarding the different warning lights on your dash board...I found the picture of the dashboard online, and then listed all the warning light 'meanings' from my service manual...so that might help you identify future problems.
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=218305 Also, If you are low on coolant, it may be your water pump is leaking...with over 90k on it...it is definantly a possibility...so get the 60k tuneup done quick, before something serious like your timing belt breaks.
