drinking and riding

so i got my first DUI the other night. usual saturday, went out party to party with my buddies. had a lot to drink. on the way home i was going way too fast. tried to hop a curb. my front wheels got up and over no problem, but i was too drunk and going too fast and i misjudged and i slammed into a cement retainer. while i was picking myself up a cop cruzed by and asked if i was drinking. i must have been super drunk because i didn't think there would be anything wrong with confessing. apperently you aren't allowed to ride a skateboard, bike, rollerskates or scooters when you are drunk. i couldn't believe that the cop actually wrote me up. asshole.

i figure the judge will take one look at this case and strike from the record.

I think he wasn't driving a car luckily, Craig.

Re: drinking and riding

Ok I read the first sentence of this an instantly shook my head thinking I have no respect for, or reason to defend a Drunk Driver.

Then I read the rest and realized he must have been skating. The fact that he got writen up for that is rediculous. Lets just hope it doesnt = points on his DL.

I think he was on a skateboard, correct me if I'm wrong. But getting back to the DUI, yeah I believe it because I have a friend of mine who got wrote up for ridding a bicycle drunk. Pretty stupid if you ask me. A vehicle, motorcycle, boat ok. Anything you have to use your own body to operate, scooter skateboard etc, is not something that should get you in DUI trouble IMO.

Re: drinking and riding

I work at a jewel store (grocery) and no joke we have many people who come on bikes drunk to get more beer, and end up drinking some on the way back. I even talked to one of the guys on my break once. I find it funny that you can get ticketed for that.

Re: drinking and riding

yea, i was on my board. i go out of my way to not drink and drive. i'd never forgive myself if something happend when i was behind the wheel after a few drinks. anyway, i talked to my girlfriends dad who is a lawyer and he said the DA will most likely be a dick about it but any sane judge will turn it into a misdameaner at most.

the officers around my school are intense, it's kind of a rich area and they are way over funded. i figure the guy needed something to do.

as far as the night goes it was pretty tight until then. got a little sympathy love for the bind i was in no less.

Re: drinking and riding

I see it this way do you need a licence to drive a lawnmower,bicycle,skateboard,skates?.....No, so then why can they give you a ticket. Driving a 3000-4000 pound vehicle is a different story. Lets be serious how much damage can you do riding skates except to your knees! Whats next WUI "Walking under the influence"
