Could you be a stay at home Dad or trophy husband?

I've always wondered about this. Could I do it? I don't know? In US culture I know you would be seen as less of a man if your wife was the breadwinner. But why is this? I mean things are balancing out as far as careers and success go so why don't we have more stay-at-home dad's? I have often kidded that I would be a WNBA groupie, marry an old rich lady or be Jennifer Lopez's stay-at-home hubby...but would I? I mean would you? Who would? Could I be that man that sits to the left of the podium as his wife gives some accptance speech? Could I drive the mini-van and take the kids to soccer practice? Think about that stuff? I think many would say yes, if they loved her they could do it. But for how long? That dude in "American Beauty" had a terrible existence. And what about being a trophy husband? Just some good looking dude who appears at awards ceremonies with his super star wife that he sees like 50 days a year. Like I said, many of say we could do it, but could we? Could we sleep knowing that our wife or GF is out making a film with Russell Crowe while we are changing diapers and making thanksgiving dinner? Or perhaps at a business convention with a bunch of womanizing execs while we are mixing some Similac for the baby. The more I think about it the more I ride the fence.

So what are your thoughts AF?

this looks dangerously like philosophy to me!

Having been made redundant more than once in my brilliant career,I have had to resort to househusbanding in order to allow my multi-skilled wife to take up the shackles of the rat race....All I can say is that neither of us cared for the arrangement very much....As soon as I got a toe in the door at a mcjob,I was back to work with a vengeance! Having kicked, struggled, lied, cheated, and slandered my way up to the next tier of the food chain,I can now afford to keep my wife in the domestic bliss which she craves...

Haven't tried being a trophy husband yet,though......

Ladies: One Trophy Husband Available.

Inquire within!

I wouldn't mind being a trophy husband! Get all the wife's money for just lookin pretty! Trophies don't do housework anyway... have the maid or butler do everything. Nannies take care of the kids.

With all that free time, I could become a great philosopher, artist or screen writer. That way I'm not just her bit*h. That sounds pretty good 2 me!

im only 19, so this question would be more effective when im in my mid 20's...

but i dont see why not...i mean, why not stay at home and look good? wife all paying your way, you getting lovin and doing nothing but taking care of the home and watching the little ones from time to time...not going through the stress of your ugly-ass boss.....sounds like a steal man!

Bernie Mac does it, so why cant I?

I am not sure I could do that. i am sort of a work-a-holic. Always have been. I would go nuts just sitting around the house. I know when I have been on holiday I get very ansy after two days.

WHAT!?

You mean I have to actually clean the crap and put it away properly???

House cleaning is easy... Enter house with big trash can. Throw anything away that is not yours that is out of place. Start laundry, clean kitchen, wait till kids get home from school, and make them vacuum, dust, mow, clean bathrooms, bedrooms, mop, clean windows, mow yards, put clean clothes away, cook dinner.

Easy I tell you!!!!

ROTFLMAO @ Tireburner

Unfortunately my present "children" are furry, scaled, or finned...so I have a hard time getting any help around the house.

.

Have the kids help you out in the garage, modding your car! If they too young to help, then they can sleep in the back seat of the car while you work on it.

well, in the same vein, I make more than my boyfreind....some guys can't handle their woman being more successful....thank god I usually find men that are just fine leeching money from me

hehe but Shawn(shadowboy) really has no problem with my success, he works too. but when he finished his education he should be making way more than I, and I'm perfectly happy with that too
