CV Boots

How much does it cost to replace the rubber cv boot things that cause the clicking when i turn? and should i replace all of them at once?

where can i buy the rubber boot? or can a mechanic get it for me when i go to get it fixed?

heh - don't go to the Honda dealership, I'll tell you that. 260 for new cv boots, plus they'll want 60 for an alignment after they do that.

i hardly ever spin my tires. once today when an asshole was coming into my lane. and once like 3 days ago when i raced.

i thought it was from cold weather. and it sounds like the back is clicking.

if its coming from the back then i would suggest you get the bearings looked at because there are no cv joints in the back. as far as clicking, if its clicking its not the boot its the joint thats bad. it requires the removal of the axle which is costly. as for part prices i have no idea but need to find out because my moms civic's boots are cracking. if they crack and shit gets in there then you have a problem

Duuude, no it's not. It took me an afternoon, a 32mm nut, a breaker bar, the new axle and new tranny fluid. Total of about $80

But yeah if it's clicking, changing the boot ain't gonna do shit for you because it's the constant velocity joint bearings that have been turned to shit by road debris. Even if it was just the boot, you would still need to remove the axle to replace it which is why ppl reccomend just changing the whole while you're down there.

Basically you have two options:

One: Be a man and read my instructions (if so desired) and do it yourself and save some money while learning about your car.

Two: Pay someone $200 to change it.

yeah well duh its not costly if you do it yourself. i was talking about it being costly if you get the dealer to do it.

Yeah... one cv boot tore on the left axle of my car... I replaced the boot, and the right cv boot tore. It's the actual joint that needs to be fixed, not just the boot. I just replaced the axles altogether... since I was changing out the motor anywayz.
