What are your own pros and cons of streetracing, or watching others do it ?

I'm researching a school paper on streetracing, it's history and the culture and would be very grateful if anyone can either list their own funniest or serious (or a bit of both) pros and cons of being either a street racer (or just being an enthusiast, who likes watching races), or point to any previous good witty discussions or comments on the topic, on this forum or on any other sites or pages.

They give car enthusiasts a bad name

Theyre people who are in it for the Scene and not the cars and the people.

Well I think it's disgusting, especially the way they pour diesel on the road and do burnouts- endangering other inocent motorists, I personally am either gonig to drive to queen St with an Uzi and open fire, (On thier cars ) or make good use of a Hummer or light the diesel while they are "Burning rubber"

Anyone see that show on Street Racing on 2 last Monday????
It pissed me off looking at all those losers in thier 323 station wagons and Starlets with thier Mags, fart pipes, body kit and Stock engines

Man what try-hards

The whole idea of pure street racing is not only dangerous to yourself but countless others on the road. Not to mention it is illegal. I am sure most people with performance cars have given them the odd squirt or two, that is in you the blood for the high performance car enthusiasts.

Yet most of these races are held by young adults to kids (under 18) who have not developed the skills to hand the car if something goes wrong. They don't seem to understand at a high rate of speed things happen way too fast and without the proper reflexes the results can be tragic!

It is also giving us in car clubs and owners of high performance cars who do racing at the tracks a bad rap without seeing the whole picture because all the see is little johnny dead along with his mates in a bad crash.

I am going to stop now before I really get pissed off about this topic. Honestly I wish a mod would lock or delete it.

That's why they have their own forums (nothing but BS anyway). Moppie....
It's good to see although this topic hasn't been discussed before, we are all emphatically against it. Go Asia/Pacific. Show the way. Moppie...
