Cleaning brushes

Alright, I finally started my model today. I'm finished with the primer and waiting for it to cure. I also painted of the engine parts. Anyways, how do you guys clean your brushes--or how do ya'll paint with brushes?

When I was painting, the paint slowly dried on the brush. When I finally went to clean it (in water), it wouldn't come off. I'm probably wrong in thinking this, but I even tried thinner.

Help?

I usually clean brushes in nail enamel remover. It's better to do immediately after use. But if paint completely dried you can left your brushes in solvent for a longer time (e.g. for a hour)

When switching from one paint to another I just dip brush to the jar with remover and then wipe it with cloth

maybe you should try using acrylic paint? just a suggestion. i like it better because of its easy clean up, and faster drying.

I use stuff from my work called *CONKER*, It's brilliant. It washes all the paint out of the brush then can be washed out in water.

You use the stuff on car engines to remove oil/grease and then you just hose it off to make you engine look all nice and new

You did'nt mention what kind of paint you're using (enamel or acrylic)
for acrylic paint, soap and water should clean the paint off the brush.
Enamels need Mineral Spirits,Turpentine,or paint thinner.Brushes
should'nt be left long enough for the paint to dry on the bristles.
Don't leave the brush in a jar of cleaner too long or it will bend the bristles permanently.

Thanks everybody for the help. Sorry that I forgot to mention that I use enamel paint. It's Testor brand. Is Tamiya acrylic?

Most Tamiya jars are acrylic. They do make Tamiya enamels, but I've never seen them. Tamiya sprays are synthetic lacquers.

In New Zealand we are spoilt for choice when it comes to Tamyia we get the full range of Acrylics and Enamels and the TS and AS spray cans

The Enamels clean up good in paint thinner, just don't leave the brush in there because it eats the paint off of the brush itself

I have yet to even see a Tamiya acrilyc in person, let alone a Tamiya enamel.

I have to settle with Testors and Model Master enamels and acrilycs. They aren't bad. I use Paint thinner to remove enamel from a brush.
