stereo question

ok, i desperately want a cd/mp3 player for my car. so i took it up to circuit city and some kid there said that because i have the mach 460 i would have to get all new speakers too unless i wanted the cd player to be fm based (sound like the music was coming through the radio). basically what the kid was saying that was unless i got all new speakers w/ the cd player my cd's would sound like ass. is this true or is this kid smoken crack

I don't know all the in's and out's of the Mach stereo system. Also I know the newer cars can have some really dumb shit done to the stereo systems like the newer Cavaliers radio harness is part of the security system so switching it is ridiculious etc..,

But I've never heard anything crazy like that with the Mach and I have no faith in what Besy Buy or Circuit City people say or do with car stereo.

Goto a car stereo speciality store that does installs and talk to them. They really know their shit and all the little things about each cars stock stereo.

O.K. here are a couple of things you can do for your stereo, try and install the new stereo and make sure you hook-up the amp turn on wire and then turn the stereo on and see how it sounds, if it sounds good there you go your new stereo installed. Second if the stereo doesn`t sound good at all you will need to do an amp by-pass (the amps are on the rear deck on most mustangs) but I will tell you that most of the cars I work on that have the Mach 460 or the Mach 520 it is best that you do replace the speakers because the factory system the speakers are running at about 1.5 ohms and the aftermarket radio is only stable at 2 ohms in stereo what will happen you will burn the aftermarket radio up. Hope this helps.

Thumbs down Re: stereo question

This mother$#$%er right here.....
Anything with an LS1 will cost 10,000 more than any mustang.
Take that 10,000 dollars add a supercharger/turbo a couple bolt ons and you'll kill any LS1 and still have enough money left to afford some rent. Plus Ford parts are always cheaper than Chevy parts. And they still make the mustang. And its the number 1 selling sports car in America. So I guess the rest of the US agrees with me, including Chevy/Pontiac, because they got rid of them. And the Corvette is a rich mans hot rod. For those people that think they are car nuts. Even though they dont even know where there oil drain plug is or air filter. The mustang and viper are the last true muscle cars left. And the mustang is the last the everyday man can afford. I bet my stang could kill your LS1 with a car length head start. 12s are nice and all. But try 10s and 11s, it will put some hair on your balls.

See ya in my rear view.

And the 03 and 04 Cobra are supercharged. Im yet to see any lt1 or ls1 compete with one. Plus the are lighter weight. Plus have a shorter wheelbase. The 02 Cobra is what you are talking about.

Holy crap, I had to read that post like 5 times to understand what he was trying to say. That sig kill count should be up to like 60 by now, huh Bobby?
