There is a ton of information on the forums on how to increase horsepower without going "all out".

I too want to keep the stock look however I want to have some more power for the times I'm driving a little more spirited.

I suggest you go ahead and put a Cold Air Intake (CAI) on your car and add a header to your car as well. I've been told that the stock exhaust system isn't really THAT restrictive so the car DOES benefit from these two modifications.

In fact, I'm in the market for a CAI and I'm hoping to have a header installed within the week. So- hopefully that will take care of the power side of things, to take care of the "luxury" part, I threw in a flip out screen to entertain myself with playstation or MAYBE a DVD/VCR or something rather- (I'm still deciding which one to get). Or- just go with a playstation2- I dunno.

Considering it's your first day on the forums, click around and read up on what others have done to their cars. You're sure to find something that will get you all excited about your car.

Good luck.

I agree with Cliffud. The best start would be the Cold Air Intake. The stock exhaust system is good enough. As far as cams, pulleys, ECU and other mods, that's when you'll be spending some big bucks. BTW, you have checked www.g20.net right?

What about advancing the timing? It costs nothing if you do it yourself. Just make sure to do it properly.

!

woah clifford, thats exactly the piece of looking for my TV! Currently my TV Screen is on a Flexible Mount and to the side. I really want that piece that hold the TV like that.

My questions are:

1. How much did you pay for that
2. Where did you get it? I want one too
2. Does the thing fold in and out when not in use
3. Can you measure from the top to bottom to see how much room it takes.

Thanks, you can PM me if you would like, but I am really interested in that piece!

I was going to private message you - but then I figured that someone else out there might be curious.

The unit is called the Alpine CVA-1000. Alpine now has it's successor and it's successor's successor, the 1005 and then the 1006.

1) The unit was $1300 new a couple of years ago.
2) Got it at the local stereo shop, they wanted an arm and a leg to install it though so I installed it myself.
3) Yes, the screen folds in and out of the dash. It also controls a 12 disc changer in the trunk and functions as a radio.
4) The unit will fit in a stock din fitting and when the screen is out - it blocks the buttons just below the A/C vents (as you can see in the picture)

I'm actually thinking about selling the thing. It works perfectly and has the video bypass switch already installed and it has the audio bypass switch too (to play the playstation sound through the car stereo). I also put in a kill switch so that if I were to ever get stopped by the police, the unit would not be able to play the playstation no matter how many buttons you pressed on the darn thing. The monitor and brain do not have a powered amplifier built in, so you MUST run external amplifiers (unless you don't want sound)

Hope that helps- if you have any more questions- lemme know.

Thanks for the info,

I thought you just had a TV screen and you got that piece to hold the TV.

In my situation, I have a TV Screen w/ video output and I want that piece to hold my TV in and I can be able to fold the TV in, right now its next to the dash but I would like to hide it.

If you can sell me that piece that holds the TV, that would be great. Or maybe you know where I can get just that piece?

Thanks

I think you might be confused, wicked. The screen is actually part of the deck. It folds down and then slided inward (sorta like a CD) so that it doesn't show at all. Check out the Alpine site to see a similar model that they currently sell (retails for about $1,100)

Yes, I am aware of that. I was hoping that it was a TV screen only and a machine that acts like a deck which holds the TV (no stereo involved) What I decided to do was sell my TV system (pretty much sacrifice it, hehe) in order to get that unit.
